India tour of England: Good news, Indian cricketers fully vaccinated after receiving second dose of Covishield in UK – Indian cricket team, who is in England for the Test match series, have received their second dose of the Covishied vaccine on Friday. Virat Kohli’s men received the first dose of Covishield before leaving for England for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. BCCI asked cricketers to take only the Covishield vaccine so that they can receive the second dose in England.

India pacer Mohammed Shami posted the photo of receiving his second dose of the vaccination in England. Shami took to Twitter to share the news with the caption, “Oops, I did it again Multiple musical notes #fullyvaccinated #mshami11 #covid #covid_19 #india #uk #london #healthy.” However, the rest of the players are yet to post photos of taking the second dose of the vaccine. 

On May 11 speedster Jasprit Bumrah received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while on May 10, India captain Virat Kohli and Tests specialist Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara got vaccinated.

“It is advised that they take Covishield in India because it is based on the AstraZeneca vaccine, a UK product. They may get the second shot in the UK. Getting a different vaccine [Covaxin] here is of no use,” a BCCI source was quoted by The Times of India.

India is set to take on England in five-match Test series starting from August 4th at Nottingham.
