India Tour of England: Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who was picked as a standby player for India’s extended squad for ICC WTC Finals against New Zealand and five-match Test series against England, has recovered from COVID-19. The Karnataka youngster will depart for Mumbai from Bengaluru on May 23. He was the fourth Kolkata Knight Riders player to contract the virus after IPL 2021 was suspended.
“He has recovered from Covid-19, is in Bengaluru at the moment at his home and will be leaving for Mumbai on May 23,” a source aware of the development told IANS. He tested positive on May 8 after returning home from IPL 2021.
After 14 days of quarantine, Prasidh Krishna returned two negative COVID-19 results to be eligible for travel. He will join the rest of the squad in Mumbai on May 23 and will enter another bio-bubble after passing two COVID-19 tests. India men and women’s teams are expected to leave for England from Mumbai on June 2 in a charter flight.
India Tour of England: Other than Prasidh, wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who spent 17 days in quarantine has also recovered and will also join the squad by May 24. he has been given special permission from the BCCI to visit his family in Kolkata.
IPL 2021: Apart from Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier and New Zealander Tim Seifert were the other Kolkata Knight Riders players to test positive. Ironically, Prasidh and Seifert tested positive after leaving IPL 2021. All these three players have also recovered with Seifert returning home to New Zealand.
A right-arm pace bowler, Krishna made his international debut during the ODI series against England in March and picked six wickets in three matches. In the suspended IPL 2021, Prasidh scalped 8 wickets in 7 matches with his best coming against Punjab Kings against whom he bagged 3 wickets for 30 runs.
