India tour of England: Indian cricketers wish Rishabh Pant a speedy recovery after testing positive for Covid-19 – Veteran India cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina wished Rishabh Pant a speedy recovery after testing positive for Covid-19 in England. Suresh Raina, who often practice with Pant in India, took to Twitter to wish him. He wrote, “Get well soon brother @RishabhPant17. Wish you a speedy recovery.”

While Harbhajan wrote,” Get well soon champion @RishabhPant17.”

Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan also posted a tweet where he mentioned Pant. “I fear for the 100 & the Indian Test series unless the isolation laws change .. we are bound to have cases as is the case with @RishabhPant17 .. plus further down the line I fear the Ashes could be hugely affected with players pulling out unless bubbles/quarantine rules change !,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

Few weeks earlier Pant was spotted with a friend at a packed Wembley Stadium enjoying the Euro 2020 knock-out match between England and Germany, and it is being reliably learnt that 10 days back Pant tested positive.

“He (Pant) is in quarantine at an acquaintance’s place and won’t be travelling with the team to Durham on Thursday,” a BCCI source said. The report further stated that he has been possibly afflicted by the Delta variant which has led to rising number of cases in England.

“Yes, one player has tested positive but he has been in isolation for the last eight days. He was not staying in any hotel with the team, so no other player has been affected. But I can’t divulge the name of the player,” BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla told PTI on Thursday.

“As of now no other player has tested positive. Also you must be aware our secretary Jay Shah has written a letter to all players to maintain protocols,” Shukla added.

Now Virat Kohli and team mangement will have to take a call on either playing Wriddhiman Shah or KL Rahul as a wicket-keeper batsman. KL Rahul can keep wickets and is in brilliant form however experience of Shah can be handy in England.
