India Tour of Sri Lanka: All-rounder Krunal Pandya’s close contacts Yuzvendra Chahal and Krishnappa Gowtham have tested positive for COVID-19. The two were among the eight players who were self-isolating after Krunal’s positive test on Tuesday. Shikhar Dhawan’s Team India lost the three-match T20 series to Sri Lanka on Thursday after the squad was depleted to just 11 players apart from net bowlers.

India Tour of Sri Lanka: Yuzvendra Chahal & Krishnappa Gowtham along with six other cricketers apart from Krunal Pandya will stay back in Colombo while the rest of the team will return on Friday as per ESPN Cricinfo.

@21:40 PM: Indian team returns from Sri Lanka without 3 Covid-19 positive players, Shaw & Surya: Meanwhile, the Indian white ball team had returned home from Sri Lanka. At around 4 pm on Friday, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side, barring five players, landed in Bangalore by a charter flight from Colombo. BCCI is also making arrangements for SHAW & Surya to reach UK from Colombo itself 

Having tested positive for Covid-19 Pandya, Chahal and Gowtham will have to spend a few more nights in Colombo before they can return home. 

@16:20 PM: Shikhar Dhawan & Co leave for India, rest will stay back.

@14:00 PM: Krishnappa Gowtham and Yuzvendra Chahal will stay in isolation for a week more along with Krunal Pandya and will have to return three negative RT-PCR COVID tests.

@13:15 PM: Although Krishnappa Gowtham and Yuzvendra Chahal tested negative in the 1st round of RT-PCR tests, they returned positive on Friday in the 2nd test as per Sri Lankan medical officers.

@13:10 PM: The rest of the Indian contingent will leave for India tonight (July 30).

@13:05 PM: Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw’s England tour is in jeopardy as they may need to spend an extended isolation period after the duo’s positive test.

@13:00 PM: Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, Manish Pandey, Ishan Kishan, and Krishnappa Gowtham were Krunal Pandya’s close contacts.

@12:50 PM: BCCI official confirms the duo’s Covid-19 positive test.

India Tour of Sri Lanka: Being close contacts of Krunal, they were staying away from the rest of the team and didn’t participate in the last two T20Is after Krunal’s test came positive. Krunal Pandya, meanwhile, was shifted to a different hotel.

@12:45 PM: BCCI confirms the duo’s positive test. The rest of the squad will return on Friday.

“Unfortunately, they have tested positive. They were close contacts of Krunal and were already away from the rest of the squad in the team hotel,” a BCCI source told ANI.

India Tour of Sri Lanka: After Krunal Pandya’s COVID-19 positive test on Tuesday, 8 other cricketers — Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, Manish Pandey, Ishan Kishan, and K Gowtham were identified as close contacts — and were isolated.
