India vs Australia : Rohit, Ishant ruled out of first two Tests, team management asks Shreyas Iyer as replacement

India vs Australia Rohit & Ishant doubtful : Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma have been ruled out of the first two test matches. Both are currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru under rehab – but team management in Australia is clueless about the progress they are making.

According to the sources in NCA, both are yet to be cleared to board the flight to Australia and still their is a question mark on duo’s match-fitness.

The 14-day hard quarantine rule is another big hindrance due to which they are all but out from the first two test matches of the series – Once in Australia both will have to be in quarantine for 14 days and post that will be allowed to start training.

Rohit, who suffered a hamstring tear during the IPL, is understood to be a while away from full fitness and it could take him another two weeks of rehabilitation to get to “70 or 80% fit.

“Such is the situation that even if they leave tom they can’t play the first few matches, series for them is doubtful’, said one of the BCCI official to InsideSport.

India Tour of Australia : Ravi Shastri & team management in Australia clueless about duo’s status

InsideSport has reliably learnt that neither BCCI nor anyone from NCA has communicated with Coach Ravi Shastri about the status of Rohit and Ishant’s availability.

The situation made Shastri to say, “He (Rohit) was never going to play the white-ball series, they were just looking to see how long he needed the rest, because you can’t afford to be resting for too long. If you need to play in the Test series or any red-ball cricket, you’ve got to be on the flight in the next three or four days. If you aren’t, then it’s going to be tough.

“It’s a similar case (Ishant’s injury) to Rohit. You don’t really know how quickly he’ll be available to fly out. Like I said, if anyone has to play in the Test series, he has to be on the flight in the next four or five days. Otherwise, it’s very difficult,” Shastri told ABC Sports.
