Ind vs Eng T20: MI's Rahul Chahar likely to be added to India's T20I squad
India vs England T20 : Mumbai Indians’ (MI) spinner Rahul Chahar is likely to be recalled to India’s T20I squad after doubts over Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Tewatia’s availability, according to Cricbuzz report. The 21-year-old will be an automatic choice for the selectors as he was one of the standbys for the Test series against England. Furthermore, he has been in the Indian team’s bio-bubble for some time which strengthens his chances of getting added to the squad.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had released other standby players, like  KS Bharat, Shahbaz Nadeem, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Priyank Panchal for the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, but decided to keep Chahar with the team. The Rajasthan-born spinner also attended a net session with the Indian team on Monday (March 8).

Chakravarthy and Tewatia failed the first fitness test conducted by BCCI at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bangalore last month.

While the results of Chakravarthy’s second fitness test are yet to be released, according to the Cricbuzz report, Tewatia is in quarantine in Ahmedabad along with the rest of India’s T20I team.

India’s playing XI for 1st T20I vs England: KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant – Who will don the big gloves?

With KL Rahul back in the fray for the playing XI and Rishabh Pant’s roaring comeback, the team selectors are now in a fix. However, keeping Pant’s recent form in mind, it is likely that the youngster will be handed behind the stumps responsibility.

There is also Suryakumar, who will be fighting for the place in the starting eleven. But given Rahul and Pant’s prowess with bat and experience at the international level, it is unlikely the Mumbai Indians’ star will start in Ahmedabad.
