Here are 5 cricket tournaments that were hit by Covid 19 recently.
Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021
The clutches of Covid 19 interrupting the cricket grounds started with the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 that was postponed after a spate of positive Covid-19 tests. The tournament was badly hit by the pandemic where as many as seven players or officials turned positive in less than a week.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021
The pandemic woes were even seen in the domestic tournament Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 that saw an immediate call-off after positive cases were reported from the franchises. The remaining tournament will now be played in the UAE from September-October.
Pakistan tour of England
Even the international series between England and Pakistan saw claws of virus interrupting the series. After three players and four support-staff members- tested positive for Covid-19 from Eoin Morgan led England team, Ben Stokes with the new England side was chosen to continue the series as per the planned itinerary.
Australia tour of West Indies
Just a few days ago, the second ODI between West Indies and Australia in Barbados was suspended minutes before the start, after a member of the West Indies staff tested positive for Covid-19. The same match was rescheduled and the series was resumed after all the players tested negative.
India tour of Sri Lanka
After half of the ongoing series between India and Sri Lanka was wrapped up, Covid 19 bit the Indian contingent. Much like the other tournaments, players have been put in isolation and are awaiting their reports, Meanwhile, a new itinerary has been released for the remainder of the series.
