India’s fantasy sports website Dream 11 inks 5-year partnership with ICC

India’s leading fantasy sports digital platform Dream 11 has become the official “fantasy games partner” of International Cricket Council. The five-year deal has come into effect with the ongoing ICC Women’s World T20 in the West Indies.

Dream11 has signed an exclusive 5-year partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC), cricket’s apex governing body. The company, promoted by Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its brand ambassador, has activated the deal with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup fantasy games, states a report by national business daily Economic Times.

As part of the deal, the company will develop and operate fantasy games relating to all ICC events over the next five years. The deal period, in addition to the ongoing Women’s World T20, will include big ticket events like the Champions Trophy and the ICC World Cup and the ICC World T20 and other major events under the aegis of the world governing body for cricket.

The deal makes Dream11 the cricket governing body’s “official fantasy game partner” till 2023. It will allow cricket fans to select their fantasy teams for all the official ICC global events. Dream11 will also be integrated across all branding and marketing collateral of ICC events.

Commenting on the partnership, Harsh Jain, CEO of Dream11 told the Economic Times, “The ICC Dream11 partnership will provide the best, most trusted fantasy cricket experience to billions of fans globally.”

Confirming the development, David Richardson said, “The ICC is delighted to welcome Dream11 on board to deliver a fantasy cricket platform for cricket’s one billion plus fans across all ICC events. Giving fans the opportunity to enjoy our sport in more ways, by playing fantasy cricket throughout the tournament or for individual games, is important to us.”

Recently, Dream11 has closed a US$100 million Series D funding round that was led by Chinese technology and gaming giant Tencent.
