Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2018 season on account of Injury. The South African fast bowler was retained by Delhi Daredevils via RTM ₹ INR 4.2 crores.
Rabada felt tightness and discomfort during the Johannesburg Test of the recently-concluded Australia series and has been diagnosed with lower-back stress fracture. Subsequent scans revealed the injury, which will sideline the 22-year-old for up to three months.
Rabada’s international season only finished on Tuesday morning, when he bowled just three overs on the final day of the Australia Tests and later admitted to feeling relieved that Vernon Philander had run through the Australian line-up so that he did not have to bowl.
“Something I have to think about and plan moving forward is how to have some time off. It is very important because you ultimately want to play for 10 to 15 years and you’ve got to have some sort of plan. You can’t just drift through it,” Rabada had said after the test.
Delhi Daredevils already have Trent Boult in their fast-bowling group with Indian options in Mohammed Shami and Avesh Khan. Chris Morris, Daniel Christian are other medium-pace all-rounders in the squad. In case Daredevils calls for replacement for Rabada it has to be approved by the IPL technical committee.
Delhi Daredevils will go against the host Kings XI Punjab in their first match at PCA Stadium in Mohali, Punjab on 8th April
