Top 5 major football events to watch out for in 2021: The COVID-19 pandemic has turned out to be a life-changing event that affects us all. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sports, some sports leagues are already up and running. That said, many of the major sports events are planning a comeback in 2021.
Let’s take a quick look at which events they are before we dive deeper into details:
Initially, Euro 2020 before it was rescheduled due to coronavirus, Euro 2021 will be competed by 24 teams across 12 European cities from the 11th of June to the 11th of July 2021.
The 2020 Copa America, which will now take place in 2021, will be the 47th edition of the tournament. It will be hosted by both Columbia and Argentina and will be played from the 11th of June to the 10th of July 2021. 12 teams will participate at the 2021 Copa America.
3. Men and Women Football Olympics
The 2020 Olympic games was postponed to 2021 and will be the 32nd edition. It will be held in Tokyo, Japan. The men’s football tournament will be contested by 16 teams, while 12 teams will contest at the women’s. The Olympic football tournaments will be from the 23rd of July to the 7th of August 2021.
4. UEFA European U-19 and U-21 championship
The 2021 UEFA U-21 Euros will be hosted by Hungary and Slovenia. The tournament will be in two stages: the group stage, which be between the 24th and the 30th of March 2021, and the knockout stage, which will be between the 31st of May to the 6th of June 2021.
5. UEFA WOMEN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL
The 2021 final of the women’s edition of the UEFA Champions League will be the 20th. It will be played at the Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg, Sweden, on the 16th of May 2021.
