IPL 2019: Amir, Deepika to dominate ad space for sponsor brands

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 will also have many Bollywood Celebrities on the field and on air, dominating the commercial space. The brands, which have made commercial commitments worth crores of rupees, have spent lavishly to leverage their IPL association.

The brand icons ranging from Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh to Deepika Padukone will dominate the campaigns for various brands this year.

Brands have gone a long way in launching their IPL-specific campaigns to maximise their presence and create talking points around it. For example, Tata Motors have roped in Dangal-fame actress Fatima Sana Shaikh and Gully Boy hero Siddhant Chaturvedi to promote the “official car partner” of IPL 2019.

Aamir Khan will be the face of three brands this IPL season. He will be seen promoting IPL title sponsor brand Vivo, for whom Mr Perfectionist had replaced Ranveer Singh before the 208 season, digital payment window PhonePe and shoe brand Walkaroo.

Vivo only last month has launched ‘Time To Pop Up The Party’ TVCs with Aamir Khan.

Shortly after confirming the deal to be an on-air sponsor for the IPL 2019 on Star TV,  PhonePe has also announced Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador with the launch of a video campaign that will be played during the IPL 2019. In the PhonePe TVC, Aamir plays an old man character ‘Daddu’.

Deepika Padukone will be seen promoting Oppo’s competitor and sister concern Vivo along with online ticketing platform Goibibo.com.

Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan will also represent Byju’s as the education platform’s brand ambassador, while Priyanka Chopra represents Samsung, the title sponsor of Mumbai Indians, which has also established an on-air sponsorship deal with Star Sports.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt represent MMT, whereas Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni go beyond their on-field domination as they respectively represent MPL and Dream11 in ad space.
