IPL 2019: Ganguly takes charge as Delhi Capitals start training

Delhi Capitals have started the preparations for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019). The squad, to be led by Shreyas Iyer in the IPL Season 12, will start their campaign on Sunday, March 24, with the away games against Mumbai Indians.

The IPL team, co-owned by the JSW and GMR groups, on Friday underwent their first nets session at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi upcoming season.

As the boys sweated out under the lights, the Delhi think tank created a history of sorts with Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting, better known for their rivalries, being on the same side.  The two legends of the game – Head Coach Ricky Ponting and Advisor Sourav Ganguly – oversaw the entire training session.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India have so far released the schedule for the first two weeks. Here are the Delhi Capitals’ matches to be played between March 24 and April 4:

24th March 2019, Sunday – Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

26th March 2019, Tuesday – Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi

30th March 2019, Saturday – Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi

1st April 2019, Monday – Kings XI Punjab vs Delhi Capitals at PCA Stadium, Mohali

4th April 2019, Thursday – Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi

The IPL 2019 will start on Saturday, March 23, when Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings host Royal Challengers Bangalore. The BCCI is expected to release the full schedule over the next couple of days.
