IPL 2019: Kolkata Knight Riders replace injured Nortje with Matt Kelly

Kolkata Knight Riders have picked Australian cricketer Matt Kelly as a replacement for the injured South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.

Kelly, a right-arm pace bowler, has played 16 First-Class matches, five List A games and 12 T20s. He has not not featured in past editions of the VIVO IPL.

Kolkata Knight Riders will face Delhi Capitals for their seventh game in the VIVO IPL 2019 at Kolkata on April 12.

The Knights, in spite of injury woes, have been impressive in the IPL 2019 so far. The team, led by Dinesh Karthik, is placed second on the IPL table with eight points four two wins in the six games so far. The other two have resulted in losses to the KKR.

The team has been marred  by injuries to its key bowlers right from the start of IPL 2019.

The heroes of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning campaign last year, new ball bowlers Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi were ruled out with injuries even befor the first ball could be bowled in the IPL 2019.
