Direct to Home operators Tata Sky and Airtel Digital are offering to their subscribers free access to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 live broadcast. The scheme allows Tata Sky and Airtel Digital subscribers access to all the IPL 2019 games across leading Star Sports Channels without any additional subscription fee.
Tata Sky has informed its subscribers that Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada, and Start Sports 1 Bangla will be available free of any cost between March 23 and May 19. The offer covers all the IPL games, including the final on May 19.
Realising the strength and impact of the IPL, Airtel Digital too has made a similar offer. The Bharti Airtel group DTH service has informed its users that they can tune in to Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star, Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Hindi HD, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star, Sports 1 Kannada and Star Sports 1 Bangla channels from March 23 to May 19 for no additional charges.
The free offer is triggered by the tariff war between the service providers following the new Telecom Regulatory Authority of India guidelines have allowed the subscribers to pick and pay for the only the channels of their choice.
In addition to DTH platforms, mobile services operators Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL are also offering user-friendly data packs to watch IPL on the handset screens.
