IPL 2020: 4 Days to go- 10 players with most fours in IPL history

The sight of watching a batsman step out and belt the white ball straight to the rope or out of the park is a possibility on most occasions in a typical IPL contest. The likes of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli clobbered the leather at will and on demand.

Today, we shift from the obvious and move our focus to the well earned fours. Stylish southpaw Shikhar Dhawan is at the top of the chart, courtesy some lusty drives. Next in the list is former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir. Take a look at the Top 10 in the list.

1. Shikhar Dhawan (524)

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most energetic players on the field. He is well appreciated for his fearless batting and famous victory stance. There are also many memorable performances that this player has gifted to the audience. Shikhar Dhawan has played 159 matches in his IPL career and has scored 4579 runs so far. He has scored most of his runs through boundaries. Dhawan has a total of 524 boundaries in his name so far in IPL.

2. Suresh Raina (493)

Suresh Raina is the T20 specialist Indian has in international cricket. Playing for the national side as well as in the IPL, this player has made some exceptional knocks. Playing in a total of 193 matches and scoring a total of 5369 runs, he is also one of the highest run-scorers in IPL. Raina also tops as the second highest in this list of the players with the most number of boundaries with 493 boundaries so far.

3. Gautam Gambhir (491)

Former Indian opener and one of the finest cricketers in the history of the game, Gautam Gambhir has portrayed many victories in international cricket as well as IPL. As the captain of KKR, Gambhir has bagged 2 IPL titles in his career. Played in a total of 154 matches, Gambhir has 4217 IPL runs in his name. Gambhir is the player with the third-most number of boundaries in IPL history. He has a total of 491 boundaries in his IPL career.

4. Virat Kohli (480)

It is difficult to find a batting record without the name of Virat Kohli in that list. Kohli has played 177 matches in Indian Premier League so far. He is also the biggest run-scorer in IPL history. Including 5 centuries and 36 half-centuries, he has a total of 5412 runs in his IPL career. Kohli also stands in the fourth position for hitting the most number of boundaries with 480 boundaries.

5. David Warner (458)

This Australian southpaw is one of the best batsmen in IPL history. Warner has always amazed the audience with his brilliance in batting performance. Warner has appeared in 127 IPL matches so far and has scored 4706 runs in total including 4 hundred and 44 fifties. He has also hit 458 boundaries in IPL so far.

6. Robin Uthappa

The former KKR vice-captain has 435 boundaries under his belt. The right-hander has scored over 50 boundaries in a season twice. In the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Uthappa his 74 fours, his highest in a single season.

7. Rohit Sharma

Known for his big-hitting prowess, MI skipper Rohit Sharma ranks 7th on the list. The 4-time IPL winning captain comes next on the list with 431 fours. The swashbuckling batsman also has 194 sixes in his kitty and has scored a total of 4898 runs in IPL history.

8. Ajinkya Rahane (404)

The former Rajasthan Royals skipper isn’t a big hitter of the ball but is well known to find the gaps in the field. Rahane likes to play risk-free cricket and his exquisite timing of the ball makes him one of the best in his craft. The stylish right-hander stands eighth on the list with a total of 404 fours.

9. Chris Gayle (369)

It’s surprising to see Chris Gayle rank so below on a list of boundary records. That is probably because the Universal Boss believes in one way of scoring- hitting balls out of the park. While he takes the top spot in the list of most sixes (326), the Caribbean has 369 fours to his name.

10. Parthiv Patel (365)

Parthiv Patel has smashed only 49 sixes in his IPL career but he is one of the batsman with most fours in IPL. Patel has plied his trade as an opener in a number of franchises and has slammed 365 fours in 139 matches.
