IPL 2020: 5 big stars who have pulled out of IPL 2020

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020)is scheduled to start from September 19 with the grand finale being played on November 10.

However, in the wake of the pandemic, the tournament had to be shifted out of the country and is being hosted in UAE. While the tournament, for the first time will be played under new guideline of social distancing and without fans, it will be a task for the players to perform.

With so many hindrances on the road, some players have decided to not take part in the upcoming edition of the IPL 2020. In this article we take a look at the 5 big stars who will miss out on IPL 2020.

Jason Roy (Delhi Capitals)

Delhi Capitals have been with another blow as their star opener Jason Roy has opted out of IPL 2020.The right-handed batsman injured himself during the team’s preparation for the limited-overs series in Manchester and had a scan on Wednesday.

The right-handed batsman had joined the franchise at his base price of Rs 1.5 crore. Recently, reports had emerged that Roy would not be landing in UAE and on Thursday, it was confirmed that the Englishman won’t play IPL 2020. Delhi Capitals have roped in Daniel Sams as his replacement

Kane Richardson (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Australian fast bowler Kane Richardson has turned his back on a lucrative Indian Premier League contract to remain at home with his partner for the birth of their first child.

Richardson stood to earn 4 Cr to appear for Royal Challengers Bangalore, but has walked away from that contract with wife Nyki due to give birth in the middle of the IPL season.

Fellow Aussie bowler Adam Zampa has been drafted in to replace him.

Suresh Raina (Chennai Super Kings)

Suresh Raina, Indian Premier League’s (IPL) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK’s) star cricketer left IPL 2020 as he got ‘very worried about his family’, due to the Covid-19 situation in CSK camp, according to a close family friend of the cricketer.

After rushing back from the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) in UAE, former India & CSK cricketer Suresh Raina also spoke aboutthe death of his uncle, which happened due to an attack by robbers in Punjab’s Pathankot district.

Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians)

Mumbai Indians (MI) have signed Australian speedster James Pattinson as a replacement for Lasith Malinga for the Dream11 IPL 2020 season.

Lasith Malinga has requested unavailability for the season for personal reasons and to be with family back home in Sri Lanka.

James Pattinson will join the MI Family currently based in Abu Dhabi this weekend.

Harbhajan Singh (Chennai Super Kings)

Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has pulled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 due to personal reasons. InsideSport earlier had reported that the former Indian off spinner had twice postponed his trip to Dubai and is reluctant to join the team amid Covid-19.

Bhajji has conveyed his decision to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday. He became the second CSK player to withdraw his name from this year’s IPL, citing personal reasons. While Raina had returned home after traveling with the team to the UAE, Harbhajan had remained in India.
