In this article, we take a look at the top five flops of IPL 2020:

MS Dhoni: Three-time champion Chennai Super Kings on Sunday suffered a big setback as they were officially knocked out of the IPL 2020 after Rajasthan Royals thrashed Mumbai Indians. One of the major reasons behind CSK’s horrible campaign this season has been MS Dhoni’s poor form due to which he failed to lead his side from the front.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, whose salary is Rs 15 crores, has struggled with the bat throughout the IPL 13 and has scored just 199 runs in 12 games at a strike rate of 118.8. This is way below his T20 career strike-rate of 135.54. Moreover, MSD, who is arguably the greatest finisher in the history of white-ball cricket, appears to be losing his finishing mojo as the 39-year-old failed to perform when CSK needed him the most.

Glenn Maxwell: The Australian batsman has been a disappointment for Kings XI Punjab’s management who invested a huge amount (Rs 10.75 crores) to buy him from Delhi Capitals.

Maxwell has been given the role to lead KXIP’s middle-order. However, in the 11 matches played, he has scored just 102 runs at a dismal average of 14.57. To add to the woes, he has failed to produce effective results with the ball too. In the 114 balls bowled, Maxi has chipped just two wickets.

Kedar Jadhav: It’s a pain to watch CSK’s lower order batsman Jadhav bat at the moment. Given his role, the 35-year old has to bat at a high rate from the start, which he has failed to do. His unbeaten seven from 12 balls during the 10-run defeat to Kolkata encapsulates his season so far.

Overall, Jadhav, who is earning Rs 7.8 crores per season, has scored 62 runs in eight games at a terrible strike rate of 93.93. Notably, he is yet to hit a six in IPL 2020.

Dinesh Karthik: The ex- KKR skipper is having a harrowed time in the IPL 2020. Karthik has been poor with the bat so far in this season owing to which the wicketkeeper-batsman even handed his captaincy to Eoin Morgan in the middle of the tournament. Karthik has so far accumulated 148 runs from 11 matches at a terrible average of 14.80. KKR might regret paying him Rs 7.4 crores this season.

Jaydev Unadkat: The Rajasthan Royals pacer has not lived up to the price-tag. After his splendid 2017 performance with Rising Pune Supergiants, he was bought by RR for Rs 11.5 cr. However, he has struggled to lead Royals’ bowling attack and is struggling to come out of Jofra Archer’s shadow. In seven matches he has managed to take only four wickets while leaking 228 runs.
