IPL 2020: 5 players to watch out for in IPL 2021

IPL 2020: It is the big stars who often steal the limelight for their team’s success in the IPL. But every team has that one hidden talent who works hard in the net to make his presence felt. And this season was no different.

These players have managed to impress cricket legends like Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar amongst others. Devdutt Padikkal of Royal Challengers Bangalore is the leader amongst them. The 20-year-old in 15 games scored 473 runs. His emergence in the RCB outfit had made things easy for the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. RCB no more relied heavily on their two superstar batsmen to runs.

Just like him, there were other youngsters who showed their talent this year and will next year be one of the big names who are likely to set next season on fire.

Here are 5 players to keep an eye on for IPL 2021:

Rahul Tripathi, Kolkata Knight Riders

He might not be amongst the top performers, but his inclusion in the KKR had helped them get the needed depth in the tournament. In 11 games, he has scored 230 runs at a strike rate of 127.07.

Varun Chakravarthy, Kolkata Knights Riders

Varun Chakravarthy was probably the best performer for KKR this season. His best performance of the season came against Delhi Capitals, where his five-wicket haul had kept the two-time champions afloat in the IPL playoff race. In 13 games, Chakravarthy took 17 wickets at an economy of 6.84. He will be going to Australia as part of the Indian T20 squad.

Devdutt Padikkal, Royal Challengers Bangalore

Padikkal has been the find of the season, both for RCB and BCCI. The youngster is the front runner to bag the emerging players’ award. Furthermore, he is also the highest run-scorer for RCB with 473 runs in 15 games.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai Super Kings

A word on Ruturaj Gaikwad, whose name alone prompts interest (albeit spelt one letter different from the great defender of years long past. Barely able to lay bat on ball for three innings, he was dropped from the Chennai Super King’s middle order but successfully returned late in the tournament when their race was run. In his last three games, he scored three back-to-back fifties.

Karthik Tyagi, Rajasthan Royals

Tyagi has been one of the best young pacers of the season. In 10 matches he chipped nine wickets. He has been dubbed as the next big things for Indian bowling attack and rightly so. His had one of the most vicious bouncers and if he can amalgamate it with proper line and length, RR might be in serious contention for IPL title.
