Australian all-rounder Pat Cummins has created an Indian Premier League history. With a winning bid of ₹ 15.50 crore, the new Kolkata Knight Riders recruit became the highest salaried overseas player in the IPL history.
Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore were engaged in an intense bilateral bidding war for Cummins. KKR chipped with the ₹ 15 crore bid. RCB made one last attempt at ₹ 15.25 crore but then surrendered after KKR had committed ₹ 15.5 crores.
Only Virat Kolhi (₹17 crores) and Yuvraj Singh (₹ 16 crores) have got a better annual salary than Cummins, who leaves behind Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.
Earlier, the day started at a disappointing note for Chris Lynn, who had to go for the base price of ₹ 2 crores for the solitary bid by Mumbai Indians. A good catch for the Reliance Industries-owned franchisee for their title defence.

The Indian Premier League 2020 Auction pool has been extended to 338 players. Hours before the auction scheduled from 3:30 pm at Kolkata today (Thursday), six more players are added to the auction pool.
Four Indians – Vinay Kumar, Ashok Dinda, Sanjay Yadav, and Robin Bisht – along with two overseas players Jack Wildermuth and Mathew Wade have been added to the earlier list of 332.
The Indian Premier League franchisees will engage in one last exercise today (Thursday) to complete their respective squads for Season 13 – IPL 2020. The auction in Kolkata is scheduled to start at 3:30 pm.
