IPL 2020: CSK help arch-rivals Mumbai Indians to become first team to qualify for IPL 13 playoffs

Dream11 IPL 2020 playoffs: Mumbai Indians on Thursday became the first team to qualify for the IPL play-offs after Chennai Super Kings pulled off a six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders here.

While CSK were already out of the tournament, the loss made KKR’s task a lot tougher. KKR are on 12 points and can get to only 14 if they win their final league game.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians, who are on 16 points, are also on course to securing a top-two finish, which will give them two shots at reaching the final.

KKR’s loss could also make the qualifying task easier for RCB and Delhi Capitals, who are on 14 points with two games to play.

IPL 2020 Playoff Race : Mumbai Indians has already qualified for playoffs and Chennai Super Kings is already eliminated. Now from the rest of 6 teams 3 will qualify for playoffs. Check what exactly these 6 needs to qualify for playoffs –

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Played 12, Points 14, Royal Challengers will qualify if they win one of their two remaining matches. Even if they lose both matches and stay on 14 they can still qualify without NRR coming into play, but for that to happen several other results will have to go their way.

Kolkata Knight Riders : Chances almost negligible now. Losing to CSK means that  Knight Riders can only reach 14 points. They can still make the top four, but for that to happen, many other results will have to work in their favour. Kings XI Punjab should lose both their matches, while Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad should win no more than one. In that case, Knight Riders can make it as the fourth team with 14 points. Last Match vs Rajasthan Royals

Kings XI Punjab : If they can win today against Rajasthan Royals, they can be the biggest contender for playoff spot. Two wins (Royals & CSK) will definitely take them into the playoffs. Even if they lose to the Royals on Friday, Kings XI can still qualify if they win their last game and if other results go their way.

Rajasthan Royals : RR has to first of all win today against KXIP if any hopes of playoff has to kept alive. If they lose, they will be eliminated today. If they win both their games (KXIP, KKR) and hope that CSK defeat Kings XI, Sunrisers win no more than one, then the Royals will be through without NRR coming into play.

Sunrisers Hyderabad : SRH will have win their two remaining games (RCB, MI), and hope that at least one out of Royal Challengers, Delhi Capitals and Kings XI don’t reach 16. In that case, the Sunrisers will surely progress to the playoffs because their NRR is superior to all the teams.

Delhi Capitals : Played 12, Points 14, DC needs to need 1 win to seal their playoff place, but their last two games are against the top two teams on the table i.e RCB & Mumbai Indians. Capitals is currently on a 3 match losing streak. If Capitals lose their last two matches as well, it is entirely possible that Kings XI will go past them on NRR. In that scenario, Capitals could find themselves eliminated if other teams on 14 finish on a higher NRR.
