MS Dhoni etched his name in golden words when the Chennai Super Kings skipper walked out for the toss against Rajasthan Royals on Monday in the 37th match of IPL 2020. The ‘Captain Cool’ has now become the first player to feature in 200 IPL matches. He has been the captain of CSK since the inception of Indian Premier League and has led the side to three-winning campaign.

Out of 200, Dhoni has played, 30 matches as a Rising Supergiant (RPS) player. It was because CSK was banned due to match-fixing. He captained RPS in 2016 but was replaced by Steve Smith for the next season.
Dhoni’s performance in IPL
Dhoni is the seventh-highest run-getter with 4,568 runs in IPL. Out of these, he has scored 3994 runs for CSK and 574 with RPS. Known for his power-hitting, he is third in most sixes list with 215. Moreover, besides the 2009, 2014 and 2016 seasons, he has been played every IPL final.
Mahi would want to win his 200th match and stay in the race for IPL play-off finish.
Both the teams have three wins against their name from nine matches and currently in the bottom half of the points table.
The last time these two sides squared off in IPL 2020, RR, kickstarting their campaign, had beaten CSK by 16 runs in Sharjah on the back of Sanju Samson’s whirlwind 74 and Steve Smith’s 47-ball 69. While RR will once target a win over CSK to revive their season, CSK will be out to settle the score and keep their hopes of reaching the playoffs alive.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is just three matches less to complete his 200 matches in IPL. The five-time IPL winner played for Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010.
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli is fifth with 186 matches. Interestingly, the Indian skipper is the only player to play 200 matches with a single franchise.
