The Rohit Sharma-led MI are being considered as the title favourites ever since the season began in September and the team has largely lived up to the expectation.

DC, on the other side, started the season with a bang before faltering in the second-half. However, they managed to enter the playoffs and later sealed the berth in the final with an inspired performance against SRH.

Ahead of the summit clash, take a look at the top 10 unknown facts about the MI vs DC IPL 2020 final:

  • In the history of IPL, only 3 times the table topper of league stage has ended up winning the coveted trophy. Rajasthan Royals were the first one to achieve the feat in the maiden season of IPL in 2008, while Mumbai Indians are the only team to do it since the introduction of playoffs and that too twice (2017 and 2019).
  • MI have won in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, making them odd-year champions. The only even year they made it to the final was in 2010, when they went down to Chennai Super Kings.
  • DC skipper Shreyas Iyer is the first Mumbai born cricketer who will captain against Mumbai in an IPL final.
  • It will be a battle between IPL’s most successful captain – Rohit Sharma, who has won four titles – and the youngest captain Shreyas Iyer.
  • Shreyas Iyer (25 years, 339 days) will become the youngest captain to lead a side to the IPL final. Rohit Sharma is currently the youngest captain to win the IPL. He had led MI to their maiden IPL title in 2013 when he was 26 years and 26 days old.
  • Delhi Capitals currently have 3 players in their squad who were previously part of IPL champion side — Shikhar Dhawan (SRH in 2016), Ravichandran Ashwin (CSK in 2010 & 2011) and Axar Patel (MI in 2013).
  • Rohit Sharma in 2013 and Shreyas Iyer in 2020 are the only Indian players to lead their IPL side to the final without having captained in international cricket. Rohit in 2013 and Iyer in 2020 had represented India in ODIs and T20Is but not in Tests.
  • This is the first IPL final which will be played without fans, courtesy coronavirus.
  • If DC win the summit clash then it will be their maiden IPL title, while it will be record-extending fifth IPL title for MI if they beat Delhi on November 10.
  • Due to cost-cutting, winner of IPL 2020 will only get 50% of what Mumbai Indians earn by winning IPL 2019. Hence, instead of a whopping Rs 20 crore, the 2020 champion team will now receive Rs 10 crore only, while the runners-up will get Rs 6.25 crore instead of Rs 12.5 crore.
