It will be hard for anyone to believe this, but the BCCI is yet to officially confirm the dates for the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL 2020) to its official broadcaster Star India.
In an interview to media, IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel declared, IPL 2020 is scheduled to start on 19th September. But InsideSport has reliably learnt from its source in Star India that the broadcasters for IPL has still not been communicated about the final dates of 13th season of IPL. And according to a insider, this has left them ‘completely unsure and confused’
“This is so strange. No one has officially informed Star about the IPL 2020 dates. If 19th Sep is to be believed, we are just 50 days away from the IPL 2020 season. One needs to hit the market, IPL marketing campaigns need to start, advertisers have to plan their activities and above all production plans need to be in place. We are completely unsure and confused with the way things are with IPL 2020 at this stage”, said one of the Insider from Star India to InsideSports.
IPL 2020 : When is the IPL Governing Council meeting ?
The most strange part for everyone currently is why BCCI is not coming up in open about their IPL plans ? Why till date IPL GC meeting has not been planned ? And above all why the stakeholders are not being kept in loop ?
The source admitted to InsideSport that they can understand that the current situation is completely unprecedented and difficult for everyone to cope with but according to them collective meeting between the stakeholders can help the cause.
“We understand it is unprecedented situation for the BCCI. But effective communication is the need of hour. This situation is a huge challenge for every stakeholder. We also wait for the official schedule now”.
