IPL 2020 : IPL GC’s big decision, ‘no relaxation for England & Australian players’ as they will miss 1st week of IPL 2020

Despite of all the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) franchises putting in a request, the Governing Council of IPL has decided to not give any BIO-SECURITY relaxations to the England & Australian cricketers.
This means, all IPL teams will have to plan without Australian & England cricketers for the first week of IPL 2020.
The IPL GC members along with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) deliberated on the argument given by the franchises, that the English & Aussie cricketers will be coming in from one BIO-SECURE bubble to the other but have decided to not give any such relaxations.
What does this mean for the IPL teams ?
This means, that be it Steve Smith, David Warner, James Buttler, Johny Bairstow or any other cricketers, they will have to follow IPL 2020 Bio-Security norms to its fullest.
– After arrival, players will have to go under absolute quarantine for 6 days
– In period of these 6 days, they will be tested thrice – after all tests come negative, players will be allowed to join their respective teams
– This means the first week of IPL 2020, no England & Australian cricketer coming in after participating in the ongoing bilateral series will be seen in action.
It is final now, England & Australian cricketers will miss the first week of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). The IPL franchises will have to play the first 1-2 games without the star cricketers from England & Australia in their squads. Be it Ben Stokes, Steve Smith or David Warner – IPL franchises will have to live without 17-18 leading cricketers due to participate in the 3 T20 & 3ODI game series that ends on 16th September.
It is worth noting that the franchises had requested the IPL Governing Council to relax the norms on the pretext of cricketers coming from one BIO-SECURE norm to the other, but the IPL 2020 management is not ready to give any relaxations in this regard.
“We can’t lower our guard. Any relaxation to anyone can cost us the IPL edition. Franchises have to live with the fact that some cricketers will miss one or two games. We all need to be vigilant and compliant in these very difficult times”, senior BCCI functionary had told InsideSport earlier on the issue.
