In the double-header weekend in the Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. DC won the toss and opted to bowl first. The story in the powerplay was the same — DC bowlers cannon-bowling, and KKR’s top order struggles. At the end of the eighth over KKR were 42/3. But Rana kept his nerve and played an impressive 81 off 53 balls.

Rana fifty was special in many ways. It was his second fifty of the season. After scoring the half-century, he displayed a KKR jersey with “Surinder” written on it.

Who is Surinder?

Surinder is Rana’s father-in-law who passed away battling cancer. IPL official Twitter handle posted a video of nad wrote: “Sent in to open the innings, @NitishRana_27  responds with a fine 50 and dedicates it to his father in law, who passed away yesterday”.

KKR posted a big total of 195 runs, courtesy of Rana and Sunil Narine’s 100 runs partnership.
