IPL 2020 KKR vs RCB: Will KKR opt for Narine at the cost of out of form Russell?

kkr vs rcb

The Dream11 IPL 2020, has been a mixed affair so far for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp but a pressing concern for the management has been regarding their Caribbean duo- Sunil Narine and Andre Russell.

IPL 2020 been a disappointing one for the big-hitting Caribbbean. After smashing the bowlers all over the park in the previous two seasons, a lot was expected from Russell this season. Kolkata Knight Riders had pinned their hopes on Russell but the West Indies all rounder hasn’t been at his usual best as he has struggled to perform with the bat. Meanwhile the problems have compounded for KKR as Russell has also struggled with injuries.

On the other hand, Sunil Narine was reported for bowling with a Suspected Illegal Bowling Action during his team’s Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match against Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi on October 10. Following the report, Narine was placed on the IPL Warning List.

IPL 2020: Lockie Ferguson’s magic spell cemented his place in the KKR playing XI

In their last match against SRH, which KKR won in Super over, New Zealand speedster Lockie Ferguson got a chance in the playing XI and he stood up to the task.

Ferguson, playing his first match in IPL 2020, took a 5 wicket haul and then bowled a clinical spell in Super Over to propel KKR to a crucial win.

Now with Lockie Ferguson’s incredible performance last time around, KKR has a choice to make between Russell and Narine when they lock horns against RCB tomorrow- Who will it be?

IPL 2020: Narine cleared of all suspicion

However, the BCCI has now cleared the air surrounding Narine stating that his elbow bend is within the permissible limit but Narine needs to produce the same action while bowling as the tournament progresses.

‘KKR REQUESTED FOR AN OFFICIAL ASSESSMENT OF MR NARINE’S ACTION FROM THE IPL SUSPECT BOWLING ACTION COMMITTEE, SUBMITTING ACTION FOOTAGE IN SLOW MOTION WITH BACK AND SIDE ANGLES. THE COMMITTEE CAREFULLY REVIEWED ALL THE DELIVERIES OF ACTION FOOTAGE SENT OF MR NARINE WITH THE NAKED EYE AND HAS COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE ELBOW-BEND APPEARS TO BE WITHIN THE RANGE OF PERMISSIBLE LIMITS,’ A PRESS RELEASE FROM BCCI SAID.

IPL 2020: Narine or Russell- Who Will it be?

Russell’s scores in the IPL now read 11(11), 24(14), 13(8), 2(4), 5(3), 16(10), 12(9) and 9(11). His form is now a huge cause for concern for KKR. As KKR get ready to push for the 4th spot on the points table, they will want to make a call soon.

And with Narine cleaared by the BCCI and match-fit KKR has a bigger challenge to take on before they lock horns with RCB tomorrow.
