Milestones achieved in IPL 2020 so far:

Rahul’s 69-ball 132 vs RCB is also the highest score by a captain, a wicket-keeper and by an Indian in the history of IPL.

132* – KL Rahul, 2020
126 – David Warner, 2017
119 – Virender Sehwag, 2011
113 – Virat Kohli, 2016
109 – Virat Kohli, 2016
108* – Virat Kohli, 2016

  • It is also the highest individual score in IPL cricket since AB de Villiers’ 133* (59) against Mumbai Indians in May 2015.
  • 132* by Rahul is the highest score by a keeper-captain in the T20 format. The previous highest was Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 113 in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ai T20 tournament against Manipur.
  • Rahul’s unbeaten 132 is also the highest individual score in T20 cricket format in the UAE. The previous highest was William Porterfield’s unbeaten 127 for Ireland against the USA.
  • Rahul is now only the third player after Virender Sehwag and David Warner to hit an IPL century both as captain and non-captain.
  • The 132-run knock by Rahul is also the highest T20 score as captain by an Asian surpassing Dasun Shanaka’s 131* in Sri Lanka’s domestic T20 tournament.
  • During the innings, the right-hander also became the fastest Indian (60 innings) to reach 2,000 IPL runs, overtaking the 8-year-old record set by former Mumbai captain and batting icon Sachin Tendulkar (63 innings).

The 28-year-old opener recently became the first Indian to score 500+ runs in three consecutive IPL seasons.

Overall, Rahul is the third batsman to achieve the feat after Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner and his teammate Chris Gayle.

Warner has scored 500-plus runs in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. He has missed 2018 owing to the ball-tampering ban, while Gayle has hit 500 or more in three straight seasons – 2011, 2012 and 2013.
