KXIP vs KKR IPL 2020 Live Updates: KKR’s superior death bowling seals thriller against KXIP by 2 runs

KKR wins by 2 runs

Maxwell tried to hit the last ball for six but it fell short by an inch or so. Exceptional death bowling for the Knight Riders to turn around their fortunes late in the match and restrict KXIP to 162/5 after 20 overs.

KXIP lose half their side

Mandeep sweeps but does not get enough of it and is held in the deep on the on side. 7 needed off 1. 6 for Super Over.

150 comes up for KXIP

Prasidh back on and completes the spell. Narine bowled a superb 18th over and now Krishna has produced another good one. Two wickets and just six runs. The match can go either way now! KXIP-151/4 after 19 overs; need 14 from 6 balls

Excellent from Krishna

That is just brilliant from KKR. Krishna bowls a fuller length, Rahul swings hard, bottom edge of the bat hits the stumps. Rahul is gone.

Krishna gets his 2nd wicket

Prabhsimran Singh fails to make any impact as he walks back to the pavilion for 4. Maxwell is the new man in. FOW-149/3

Narine back on and he removes Pooran, who was looking to hit every ball out of the park.  Just 2 off the over but Punjab still in the driver’s seat. KXIP-145/2 after 18 overs; need more 20 from 12 deliveries

KXIP go 2 down

Narine gets Pooran. Pooran made room and swung the bat hard, missed it completely and Narine hit the timber. Punjab lose second wicket.

Chakravarthy continues. Good over for Punjab again. A boundary in the over and three singles. Chakravarthy completes his spell; decent work from him. KXIP-143/1 after 17 overs; need more 22 from 18 balls

2nd Strategic Timeout taken
Costly from KKR

Punjab have nine wickets in hand, a settled Rahul  and an explosive Pooran in the middle as they continue with the blitzkrieg. Both of them hit Nagarkoti brutishly — two fours and a six;19 off the over. KXIP-136/1 after 16 overs; need more 29 from 24 balls.

Krishna back and he finally gets a breakthrough for KKR. Mayank goes after playing a good hand. Top over from Krishna. Just four off it and a wicket. XIP-117/1 after 15 overs; need more 48 from 30 balls

KKR gets a breakthrough finally!

Mayank goes. He got the ball on the pads and flicked it fine, but just fine enough to that fielder in the deep on the on side. Fine innings comes to an end with Gill completing that catch.

Part-timer introduced

Surprise move from DK. He throws the ball to Nitish Rana. Trying something different here is DK and he is helpless by the fact that Russell is not available. Seven off the over. KXIP-113/0 after 14 overs; need more 52 from 36 balls

50 for Rahul & Agarwal

100 comes up for KXIP

KXIP-106/0 after 13 overs; need more 59 from 42 balls

Agarwal has upped the ante in the last over against Nagarkoti hitting two boundaries, but it falls flat a bit in the next as Chakravarthy restricts him for singles. However he manages to find the boundary on the last ball of the over. KXIP-94/0 after 12 overs; need more 71 from 48 deliveries

Kamlesh Nagarkoti back on. Spinners had put a stop on boundaries but with pace on, Agarwal is back to hitting those boundaries again. Top quality shots from the opening batter. KXIP-86/0 after 11 overs; need more 79 from 54 deliveries

KXIP-76/0 after 10 overs; need more 89 from 60 deliveries

Both Rahul and Agarwal are taking it nice and slowly. Karthik though has reasons to worry right now as they are quite settled now.

Chakravarthy continues. A risky single taken by Rahul in the over but he was safe there. Good two back to back overs from KKR spinners. Just five from the over. KKR need to maintain this pressure on the batsmen. KXIP-67/0 after 9 overs; need more 98 from 66 balls

Kolkata have introduced their spin pair right after the powerplay looking for a wicket. After Chakravarthy went for seven runs in his over, Narine goes for eight runs after Agarwal hit a lucky boundary towards the vacant fine third man region. KXIP-62/0 after 8 overs; need more 103 from 72 balls

50 up for KXIP
50 partnership for Rahul-Agarwal

Varun Chakravarthy, right-arm leg break, comes into the attack now. KXIP go past fifty, also the fify partnership between Mayank and Rahul. KXIP-54/0 after 7 overs; need more 111 from 78 balls

Strategic Timeout taken

End of Powerplay; Kamlesh Nagarkoti comes into the attack now, replaces Krishna. Nagarkoti goes short and Rahul pulls him for four on the on side. This is a solid start from Punjab openers. Powerplay finished. 11 off the over. KXIP-47/0 after 6 overs; need more 118 from 84 balls

Cummins continues. Punjab now on the move after a slow start. Rahul collects a boundary as well in this over. Cummins started off well, giving just three off the first three balls but ends with 8 from the over. KXIP-36/0 after 5 overs; need more 129 runs from 90 balls

Agarwal (17*) gets it going as he punishes Prasidh left, right and centre. First with a brilliant  boundary, almost a half-volley, and then a straight drive through Rahul’s legs. He finishes the over with a maximum over deep extra cover. KXIP-28/0 after 4 overs; need more 137 from 96 balls

Another excellent over from Cummins

Cummins continues. Top over from him. Two singles off the first two balls. Double on the third ball followed by a single and a dot. KXIP-14/0 after 3 overs; need more 151 from 17 overs

Prasidh Krishna, right-arm medium. Rahul plays early  and gifted second life with Russell dropping his catch. More bad news for KKR as Russell has left the ground. Just five from the over

KXIP-8/0 after 2 overs

Russell hits advertisement board, leaves field

Russell has dropped Rahul running back near the ropes at long off, and the ball rolled over for four runs. While stopping the ball, he hit the adverstising board as well.

Rahul dropped by Russell

Rahul gets a life there and also brings up the first boundary for KXIP. The KXIP skipper miscued the straight loft and Andre Russell drops the catch at long-off.

Strong start from Cummins and KKR

Just 3 runs in the opening over from the Australian. KKR will need more of these. KXIP-3/0 after 1 over

We are back with KXIP’s chase

KL Rahul and Agarwal walks out for KXIP; Cummins to bowl the opening over in the chase

Dinesh Karthik’s fireworks helps Kolkata finish on a decent score of 164/5 after having a horrible start to the innings. Shubman Gill’s 57 provided the foundation of the innings in the opening ten overs. Punjab will be ruing their chances as they gave away a massive 63 runs in the last five overs. KKR-164/6 after 20 overs

Karthik run out on the last ball

It was never a double but the batsmen still took the gamble. Rahul collects the ball calmly and dislodges the stumps. Karthik is the batsman who has run himself out. Karthik run out.

Arshdeep into the penultimate over of the innings. Nine runs off the over, the young left arm-pacer has nicely pulled things back. KKR-155/5 after 19 overs

Big blow to KKR; Russell falls for 5

A big wicket for Arshdeep Singh. Good length, Russell swings wildly, gets an edge and it’s caught behind by Simran Singh. Pat Cummins is up next. FOW-150/5

Eventful over from Shami!

Shami into his final over.  Karthik smacks Shami for consecutive fours off the second and third. Also, brings up his 50 in the process. A mix up between the batsmen off the penultimate ball and Gill runs himself out. KKR-146/4 after 18 overs

Gill run out on 57

Good innings from Shubman Gill but he will have to depart, courtesy a mix up with Karthik.

50 for Dinesh Karthik!

The KKR skipper has looked extremely dangerous and the middle as he brings up his fifty with a boundary at point.

Costly from KXIP!

Jordan returns and he gets smacked for two fours and a six, all from the blade of Karthik, who’s on fire at the moment. A run out referral on the last ball but Shubman was comfortably back in the crease. 17 runs off the over,

KKR-133/3 after 17 overs

50 partnership comes up for Gill-Karthik

Karthik plays a lovely inside out shot off the fourth ball and that fetches him a boundary. The bowler concedes a boundary off the last ball as well. 14 runs off the over. KKR-115/3 after 16 overs

100 comes up for KKR

Bishnoi into his final over. Gill smacks him for a four off the third ball and brings up his half-century. 10 runs off the over. KKR-101/3 after 15 overs

50 for Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill gets to his half century with a four towards deep square leg. How good has he been? Has played proper cricketing shots in his knock.

Mujeeb bowls his last over. He has been expensive so far. Shubman tries to smoke the third ball over covers, but it took an edge and raced away to the fine leg fence. 14 runs off the over, another costly one from Mujeeb. KKR-91/3 after 14 overs

2nd Strategic Timeout taken

Gill (37*) is bearing a huge responsibility now as it all depends on him to bat to the end with skipper Karthik still trying to find his feet. KKR-75/3 after 13 overs

Mujeeb comes back and only concedes a four from Shubman’s blade. Gave the batsmen no pace or room to work with. KKR-68/3 after 12 overs

Bishnoi gets the big wicket of Eoin Morgan off the fourth ball. Morgan tried to go over covers but hit it straight to Maxwell down the ground. Four runs and a wicket in the over. KKR-64/3

Bishnoi gets danger man Morgan

Young Bishnoi gets the big wicket of Morgan, who tries to go over extra cover but hands a simple catch to Maxwell down the ground. It was a  googly!

50 comes up for KKR

Mujeeb changes his end and is into his second over. Bowls in Morgan’s arc and the England batsman smokes it towards deep mid wicket for a six. 11 runs off the over. Mujeeb has been expensive so far. KKR-60/2 after 10 overs

Morgan hits KKR’s first six of the match

There comes the first six of the KKR innings, off Morgan’s bat. A floated one from Mujeeb. Morgan picked it like he does and belted over deep mid-wicket for a six.

Strategic Timeout taken

Bishnoi frustrated Eoin Morgan a bit with his bowling. Begins the over with three dot ball and then concedes just 4 in the remaining three. KKR-49/2 after 9 overs

Jordan is called back in. Bowling against his national team captain, he does well conceding just three runs. Gill sees off the over with just a two. KKR-45/2 after 8 overs

Good over for KKR finally!

Mujeeb Ur Rahman introduced into attack. Morgan reverse-sweeps the spinner for a four off the last ball. 13 runs off the over, expensive one this. KKR-38/2 after 7 overs

Milestone for Eoin Morgan

End of Powerplay

KXIP have absolutely dominated the opening passage of play. KKR lost 2 early wickets and are now on the backfoot as KXIP bowlers try to capitalize on it. KKR-25/2 after 6 overs

Chris Jordan into his first over. Terrific shot again from Gill. Jordan directed it towards batsman’s pad and Shubman clips it through backward square leg for a boundary. No fielder there, an easy one for the batsman and KKR. 4 runs off the over. KKR-19/2 after 5 overs

Arshdeep enjoying brilliant spell of bowling

Arshdeep is bowling from the other hand. Bowled a maiden first over to Tripathi. Starts off with a dot. There is a terrible mix up between the batsmen on the third ball and it is Nitish Rana, who ran himself out.  Morgan joins Shubman in the middle.

KKR-15/2 after 4 overs

Silly from KKR!

Terrible mix up between the batsmen and it is Nitish Rana, who will have to depart after being given run out by the umpire. Poor coordination among the batsmen.

Shami back for his second over. Tripathi smacks the bowler for a four off the third and then departs, after getting his stumps rattled. KKR-13/1 after 3 overs

Tripathi falls for 4

A peach of a delivery. Inswinger from Shami and it rattles Tripathi’s stumps. Shami gets the first breakthough for KXIP. FOW-12/1

Maiden from Arshdeep

Excellent start from Arshdeep as Rahul Tripathi fails to get a single run and rotate strike. Top stuff from the young bowler. KKR-7/0 after 2 overs

Boundary for Gill in the opening over

Steady start from KKR. A nice shot by Shubman Gill off Mohammed Shami. Good start by the youngster. Slight down the leg side and Gill timed it beautifully for a four. KKR-7/0 after 1 over

Aaaand we are underway!

Shami to open proceedings; Tripathi and Gill to open for KKR

Why Gayle is not in KingsXI Punjab team

7 matches without Chris Gayle, why ask KXIP fans ?

We don’t know yet if Gayle has recovered from the bout of food poisoning that kept him out of the previous game. But if he has, it’s a bold call from Kings XI. Brian Lara on Star Sports says he’s “very disappointed” with Gayle’s exclusion. The only change for KKR is they’ve brought in Prasidh Krishna for Shivam Mavi and have opted to bat on a “dry” pitch according to DK.

KXIP vs KKR Live Updates : No Gayle again for KXIP, KKR wins the toss and opts to bat
