MI vs SRH IPL 2020 Live: MI climbs to top after beating SRH by 34 runs

Mumbai Indians (MI) is ready to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2020 on Sunday. Both teams have played four matches each and have registered two victories and two defeats in IPL 2020.

Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

7.26pm
MI wins by 34 runs

Hyderabad falls short by 34 runs against Mumbai Indians. Even though David Warner (60) was in fine form, his dismissal created a domino effect in the batting order as Hyderabad finished on 174/7 after 20 overs.

7.24pm
SRH-172/7 after 19 overs; 37 needed from 6 balls

7.21pm
Abhishek Sharma departs for 10

Abhishek was trying to be cheeky. Shuffled across for a scoop but fails to connect and Bumrah breaks the middle stump.

7.18pm
6th wicket down for SRH

Samad went after the fuller outside off delivery by Bumrah but failed to connect properly and the leading edge is taken by Rohit at the extra cover area. FOW-168/6

7.15pm
SRH-162/5 after 18 overs; need 47 more from 12 balls

Boult back into the attack and Kiwi pacer has been the star of MI’s bowling. Just four from the over as Boult went full and wide of off.

7.10pm

Bumrah gets hit for a SIX and a FOUR off the last two balls of the 17th over. The equation comes down to 51 needed off 18 balls. SRH-158/5 after 17 overs

7.04pm
SRH-144/5 after 16 overs

7pm
David Warner departs for 60

2nd Strategic Timeout taken

That was the wicket they needed. A leg cutter from Pattinson and Warner edges it to short third man where Ishan Kishan pulls off the most amazing catch, diving forward. If you thought Manish Pandey’s catch was brilliant, check this out out. None the less… what a blow this is for Sunrisers as a set Warner heads back. 67 needed off 27.

SRH-142/5 after 15.4 overs

6.55pm

Krunal back into attack and strikes on the first delivery. Garg mistimes his slog sweep and Chahar takes an excellent catch at deep square leg. Umpires had a look but Chahar never touched the ropes. Abhishek Sharma is the new man in. Nine from the over. 70 needed from here.

SRH-139/4 after 15 overs; need 70 from 30 balls

6.49pm
Priyam Garg gone for 8

A fine, fine catch from Rahul Chahar at deep midwicket. It was a full toss but Garg, despite giving it his best, could not timing it as well as he’d have wanted to. Rahul Chahar takes a fine catch diving perilously close to the boundary, but the good thing is that he never touched the ropes.

6.47pm
SRH-140/3 after 14 overs; need 79 more from 36 deliveries

Good over for Pollard. Just seven from this. Garg is the new man in and he comes in with some runs under his belt. SRH would want him to play the perfect second-fiddle to Warner here. He could take the lead if he wishes so. Warner meanwhile is working very hard for his team, putting in dives to complete doubles.

6.42pm

The new batsman is Priyam Garg and along with a set David Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be eyeing for a couple of big overs to get that asking rate under control a little. Kieron Pollard to bowl the 14th over. SRH-123/3 after 13 overs

6.38pm

The softest of dismissals. A slow ball from Boult. Williamson in two minds whether to play or leave and ends up managing the faintest of nicks behind to the keeper. FOW-117/3

6.36pm
Fifty for Warner
SRH-115/2 after 12 overs

Rohit goes back to Bumrah to keep the chase in control. And a brilliant over by the pacer. Constantly finding the yorker length. Six runs from the over with most of the singles coming in the straight area, there was also a wide.

6.31pm

Expensive for Krunal; goes for 15. Warner smashed a six over long on against a round-arm ball. In fact it was hit from the bottom of the bat. The next ball, which was marginally short of being a yorker was lofted over the bowler for a boundary. SRH-109/2 after 11 overs

6.27pm
We are at the half-way mark of the chase; 115 more needed from 60 balls

Pattinson back into the attack. Boundary on the first ball for Warner. Good comeback from there for the pacer. Offered very little room and the pressure worked. Pandey went for a lofted shot to long off as he spots a fuller delivery but fails to connect properly and Pollard takes the catch. So, eight from the over and a wicket. SRH-94/2 after 10 overs

6.23pm

Mumbai finally have their breakthrough and it’s down to Pandey’s fault. No timing whatsoever and his shot off Pattinson’s bowling is caught safely by Pollard. The batsman departs on 30. Time for Kane “Mr. Dependable” Williamson now. SRH: 94/2 after 10 overs

6.16pm
Strategic Timeout taken

SRH-86/1 after 9 overs; need more 123 from 66 balls

6.12pm
SRH-70/1 after 8 overs

No Rahul Chahar yet! Pollard has been called into attack ahead of the spinner. The move, however, could have fetched MI a wicket but Hardik failed to grab Pandey’s lofted square cut at deep backward point. He was mostly distracted by the sun and gave away a boundary. Few singles in the over and a couple of wide deliveries as Pollard strayed onto the leg. 11 from the over

6.06pm

Krunal back into the attack. Brilliant bowling by the spinner. Just three singles from the over. There was a slower delivery but generally the plan was to bowl full, fast and away from the batsmen. The execution was almost perfect in the over. SRH-59/1 after 7 overs

6pm
End of Powerplay; SRH-56/1 after 6 overs

SRH lost Bairstow but maintain their momentum through Manish Pandey who hit two fours in the same over. Even their captain Warner, who looked slightly off it, found his feet brilliantly against Bumrah, hitting him for two consecutive boundaries to the off-side with excellent timing. Both Warner (15*) and Pandey (13*) now have to build on their innings.

5.55pm
SRH-42/1 after 5 overs

Another slower ball, and once again, rightly spotted by Pandey. He smashes the ball for his second boundary. Sunrisers Hyderabad 42/1 after 5 overs.

5.53pm

Just second ball into his innings, Pandey spots the slower ball from Boult and thumps it down the ground for his first boundary. Good positive sing shown by the batsman. He has to make up for that dropped catch of de Kock early in the MI innings

5.51pm

Bairstow undone by Boult’s slower ball. He was expecting more pace on the short ball but there wasn’t and the batsman failed to find the distance, placing his shot directly into the hands of the deep square leg fielder. FOW-34/1

5.50pm
SRH-34/0 after 4 overs

Pattinson keeps Warner and Bairstow on his toes. Almost had Warner out when he hit the last ball of the over high in the air, but the rub of the green goes the batsman’s way as the ball lands between three fielders converging in the deep.

5.46pm
Bairstow continues wrecking damage

After Bairstow continued his onslaught in Pattinson’s over hitting two boundaries, he took on Krunal Pandya. Four balls, no boundaries, but fifth? Short ball and pulled high and over the boundary for a huge six. 10 runs off the over. SRH: 30/0 (3 overs)

5.40pm
MI-20/2 after 2 overs

He’s such a fantastic batsman, Jonny Bairstow. Jumps down to James Pattinson and pumps a boundary with a short-arm pull. Next ball, just gets a faint tickle on the ball down his legs. 12 from Pattinson’s first over.

5.35pm

4.59pm

Natarajan back on and he is welcomed with a massive six from Pandya in the on side. Just an effortless short arm jab really and it went great distance. He pulls things back from there and gives just four off the next five. 10 off the over. MI-159/4 after 17 overs

MI-25/1 after 3 overs

Finally a big over for MI. 18 runs off the third over. Siddarth Kaul, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack so just one over for Sandeep. He starts off with a poor delivery, straying on the leg stump and gets hit for a boundary by QDK. Surya then hits three consecutive fours to make matters even worse for Kaul. Three lovely strokes, two on the offside through the covers and one a good looking on drive. Well, on drives are always lovely
