IPL 2020: MS Dhoni’s CSK needs 5 win from 5 matches to make playoffs

IPL 2020 has reached the business end of the tournament and no one would have imagined that CSK will be placed 7th in the points table with only 3 victories and 6 defeats. It has been a horror show for the three time IPL winners since the start of the tournament failing to convert wins and rueing missed chances.

Dubbed as one of the favourites to win the IPL 2020, MS Dhoni’s army has failed miserably so far this season. Chennai Super Kings will thus be desperate to grab a win against Rajasthan Royals tonight in Dubai to keep their IPL dreams alive

IPL 2020: CSK needs to win all their remaining 5 matches to qualify for playoffs

Both CSK and RR have failed to live up to the expectations so far and are placed seventh and eighth on the points table in the eight-team competition. The two struggling teams have six points from nine games, but the defending champions are placed above on the net run rate.

With just five matches each remaining for both the teams, the road ahead is definitely going to be a tough and tricky one, and they know that they cannot afford any more lapses from hereon.

Having lost a match from within their grabs against DC in their last encounter, CSK is in a precarious situation currently. Both RR and CSK have managed 3 wins and thus tonight’s contest will be a battle for survival as the losing team will crash out of the IPL 2020 Playoffs race.

Why Chennai Super Kings is struggling so badly ?

It has been an overall sob story for the Kings with the team not being able to click with the halfway of the tournament done. From wild gambles to fragile batting- the three time IPL winners has indeed looked a pale shadow of their former past.

The likes of Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo too failed to come to the team’s rescue.

Also, CSK looks like a team who are yet to figure out the perfect lineup for the team. For instance, Kedar Jadhav, who has has failed to get going in IPL 2020 was suddenly included in the squad in place of Piyush Chawla.

With just 58 runs at an average and strike rate of 19.33 in 7 matches so farit came as a surprise why Jadhav was included in the Playing XI as he barely had any part to play in the contest apart from being a mere spectator during the embarassing loss against DC.
