Mumbai Indians have been the team to beat in IPL 2020 and the main reason behind that is their pace batteries – Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. Bumrah-Boult duo is the most lethal in IPL 2020, together both the bowlers have accounted for 49 wickets, which is the highest by any pair in the tournament.
Jasprit Bumrah is currently leading the Purple Cap tally with 27 wickets in his kitty, while Trent Boult has 22 wickets to his name.
Jasprit Bumrah – Trent Boult : What makes them so special ?
Both the pacers can bowl at express pace and can also swing the ball while doing so. Moreover, it’s their line and length which makes them more lethal. While, Bumrah can bowl deadly toe-crushing yorkers, Boult has the ability to swing the ball both ways which can deceive even the top batsmen in the world.

But it’s not only about their wicket-taking abilities, infact their potential to control the flow of runs is what puts more pressure on the opposition. The duo is the key reason why the defending champions have been able to control the leakage of runs in the Powerplay in their most of the matches and that has not only built pressure on batsmen but forced them to make mistakes and throw away their wickets.
Bumrah-Boult on song against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1
Both the fast-bowlers were at their lethal best against DC in Qualifier 1 on Thursday as, after MI set a mammoth 201-run target for the Shreyas Iyer-led side, Trent Boult (2/9 in 2 overs) and Jasprit Bumrah (4/14 in 4 overs) produced a ‘Test match opening spell” to eventually blow out the opposition for 143 for 8.
Within the first two overs, Delhi Capitals scoreboard read 0/3 courtesy Boult and Bumrah. Prithvi Shaw was the first one to make way to the pavilion on a golden duck and then Ajinkya Rahane and the last one was Shikhar Dhawan.
While, the Kiwi accounted for Shaw and Rahane, the Indian pacer bowled his countryman Dhawan with a superb yorker.
Later, Bumrah also removed DC skipper Shreyas Iyer and Daniel Sams to register his best IPL figures – 4-1-14-4. The 26-year-old was also awarded with the ‘Player of the Match’ trophy for his outstanding performance which ultimately helped MI beat DC by 57 runs and enter the IPL 2020 final. And if the Bumrah-Boult show continues then it’s almost impossible to stop the Rohit Sharma-led side from winning their record-extending fifth IPL title.
