IPL 2020 Orange Cap: Warner, Bairstow enter Top 5, KL Rahul still on top

Sunrisers Hyderabad openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow stitched a 160-runs partnership on Thursday while playing against Kings XI Punjab in the match no.22 of IPL 2020. Warner hit 52 runs off 40 balls, including 5 fours and a six, while Bairstow missed a century by a whisker as he was dismissed for 97. The English batsman hit 7 fours and 6 sixes during his innings.

Interestingly, the two batsmen made it to the top 5 of the Orange Cap list after their superb innings against Punjab. Bairstow now has 241 runs to his name in six games, while Warner has 227 runs in his kitty. They are at fourth and fifth position respectively.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul, who was dismissed after scoring just 11 runs against SRH in his latest match, is still leading the chart having scored 313 runs in six games so far.

Notably, Rahul’s teammate Mayank Agarwal was also sent back cheaply against Hyderabad and he is third on the list with 281 runs.

CSK opener Faf du Plessis acquires second place in the Orange Cap tally as he has accumulated 299 runs in six games so far.

On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab pacer Mohammad Shami picked a wicket on Thursday in the IPL 2020 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad to acquire the fifth position in the highest-wicket takers list.

Shami now has 9 wickets to his name in six matches and an economy rate of 8.51.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals pacer Kagiso Rabada is leading the Purple Cap list with 12 scalps to his name in five games and an economy rate of 7.50.

Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah is second in the chart as he has bagged 11 wickets in six games so far.

Bumrah’s MI teammate Trent Boult is third on the list with 10 wickets in his kitty and he is followed by another MI pacer James Pattinson who has clinched 9 wickets in six games.

Defending a 202-runs target, SRH bowled out KXIP for 132 in just 16.5 overs.

The Hyderabad-based franchise now has 6 points from as many games.

Meanwhile, KXIP are still at the bottom of the table with just 2 points as they have won only one out of their six games so far.

Notably, Mumbai Indians continue to lead the charts with eight points from six games and net run rate of +1.488.

Also, Delhi Capitals are second in the points tally. They have won four out of their five games till now and have 8 points in their kitty.

KKR slip to fourth, while RCB are now fifth on the points tally.
