The Indian Premier League (IPL) fans can breathe little easy as one of the IPL team’s COO has declared that IPL 2020 will surely happen. According to the Rajasthan Royals COO Jake Lush McCrum, the franchise is in constant touch with the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) and the Indian board will make IPL happen in 2020.

“There are lot of stories in the press, but what I can say based on our conversation with the BCCI is, they are working really hard to find a solution. They are an agile association and can make it happen. We are confident that IPL will happen this year”, declared Rajasthan Royals COO.
The Rajasthan Royals management had organized a ‘Royal Fans Meet’ on Zoom app where RR COO along with some of the players interacted with the fans. McCrum also dropped a hint about the possible timelines for the 2020 season of the IPL.
“We are preparing for the September-November window. But nothing has been finalized as of now given the situation at hand. The great thing about BCCI is they have put together the tournament at a very short notice as well in South Africa in 2009, they can do it again”
After the statements from Royals COO, one thing is clear that the BCCI is targeting window between September to November for organizing IPL 2020 season. As reported earlier by InsideSport last week the T20 World Cup in Australia is set to be postponed and without any doubt BCCI will utilize the window available to them.

Meanwhile, as Rajasthan Royals COO mentioned IPL teams have already started preparing for the Sep-Nov window. Another team has already declared that for the sake of IPL 2020 season, they are even happy playing without crowds.

Kings XI Punjab CEO, Sathish Menon in an interview to Hindustan Times (HT) said: “The onus will be on BCCI and the Indian government whether they think IPL13 can be organised anytime soon. I think the safety of players and the nation comes first. It would be great for the players, franchises and for the brand if IPL happens even if it is behind closed doors…”

With some positive statements coming around these gloomy times, IPL fans can look forward to some action in the months between September to November. If all goes well from here-on all of these talks of IPL 2020 season can actually turn into reality in the later part of this year.
