IPL 2020: With Steve Smith missing out on the first week of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 due to international duties, Jaydev Unadkat is likely to captain Rajasthan Royals (RR). Although there has been no team announcement yet, it is likely Smith, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Jos Butler be part the Australia and England side which will play Australia in three T20Is and as many ODIs next month. The series will end on September 16. According to Crictracker report, Unadkat is likely the top choice to lead the Royal army in their opening match.
While the left-arm medium-fast bowler has never led any team in IPL, he is no alien to the role. The 28-year-old has captained the Saurashtra Ranji team and guided it to glory earlier this year.
Unadkat was bought by RR at the 2018 auctions. He was bagged by the Royals for a whopping Rs 11.5 crore. He was the second most expensive player behind teammate Ben Stokes who was bought for Rs 12.5 crore.
