Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul was on fire on Thursday as he smashed an unbeaten century against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the match no.6 of Indian Premier League 2020 in Dubai.

The 28-year-old batsman smashed 132* off just 69 balls to register his second century in IPL and meanwhile, becoming the first player to score a ton in IPL 13. His innings consisted of 14 fours and 7 sixes.

Also, Rahul’s 132* is the highest ever score by an Indian batsman in the IPL. It is also the highest individual score in IPL cricket since AB de Villiers’ 133* (59) against Mumbai Indians in May 2015.

It is worth mentioning that the KXIP skipper was dropped twice by RCB skipper Kohli when he was on 83 and 89.

Earlier in the innings, Rahul became the fastest Indian to reach the 2000 run-mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL), surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s eight-year-old record.

Rahul took 60 innings to achieve the milestone, which is three less than former Mumbai Indians’ star Tendulkar who took 63 innings to reach the 2000 run-mark in the tournament.

Notably, Rahul is the 20th Indian and overall 32nd cricketer to score more than 2000 runs in the IPL. The 28-year-old has so far scored 2130 runs in 69 matches at an average of 44.38 and a strike rate of over 140.

Meanwhile, riding on Rahul’s ton and Karun Nair’s quickfire 15 towards the end of the innings, KXIP scored 206/3 in the allotted 20 overs after they were put to bat first.
