In the 15th match of Indian Premier League 2020, which is being played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals on Saturday, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal struck with his first ball to send back Sanju Samson. However, the RR batsman’s dismissal has sparked a controversy.
In the fifth over of the RR’s innings, Chahal took a low return catch to get rid of inform batsman Samson for only four. The on-field umpires gave it out, but then they referred to the third umpire, who needed a few replays before he made up his mind.
Being a low catch, the question was whether Chahal had his fingers under the ball or not.
Interestingly, the third umpire was as confused as everyone as he kept watching the replays incessantly, but even he failed to conclusively say whether it was a clean catch or not and in the end, the third umpire found no conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field decision.
As expected, the fans on Twitter were not happy with Sanju’s controversial dismissal and here’s how they reacted:

Think 3rd umpire is in hurry and needs to complete the match quickly b4 start of next match.
Donno what he tried to see in butler’s decission and for sanju’s I don’t see any finger underneath the ball and ball hits the ground, but he says no conclusive evidence.#IPL2020

What 3rd grade umpires did you put onboard for such a world-class tournament @BCCI. It is clearly notout as ball touched ground and despite of such larger 128× zoom of the frame, the 3rd umpire didn’t have conclusive evidence.Shameful! #RCBvsRR #IPL2020 #Samson
