IPL 2020 RR vs SRH: Rajasthan Royals’ star Ben Stokes fails to live up to expectations on his return

Rajasthan Royals’ fans were desperately waiting for the return of star all-rounder Ben Stokes and when the Englishman finally played his first Indian Premier League 2020 game, he didn’t live up to the expectations.

Stokes, who was playing his first match for the Royals in this season, had a disappointing outing as he failed to contribute with both bat and ball against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the match no. 26 of IPL 2020.

The 29-year-old bowled just an over and conceded 7 runs and later when Stokes was surprisingly sent to open by RR, he was dismissed by pacer Khaleel Ahmed in just the second over of the innings. Stokes walked back to the pavilion after scoring just 5 off 6 deliveries.

Notably, the England cricketer missed out on the initial matches in the IPL 2020 as he went on a compassionate leave to meet his family back in New Zealand.

Talking about the match, SRH won the toss and opted to bat first and they rode on Manish Pandey’s 54 and David Warner’s 48 to score modest 158/4 in 20 overs.

Interestingly, Rajasthan Royals are seeking a revival of fortunes after a string of defeats. They are currently seventh in the points table with four points from six games.

On the other hand, Hyderabad are fifth in the tally with six points from as many games.
