IPL 2020 : Sehwag, Vaughan, Gambhir in unison ‘Rohit Sharma should be India’s T20 captain’

Rohit Sharma has delivered what no one in the Indian Premier League or any other cricket league’s history has. Winning the IPL title for fifth time as captain is stuff made of dreams. The cricket fraternity in unison is calling for Rohit Sharma’s elevation as India’s white ball or at least a T20 captain.

Gautam Gambhir the former India batsman, believes it will be a “shame” and “Indian cricket’s misfortune” if Rohit Sharma is not promoted for the full-time white-ball captaincy going forward.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo – Gambhir declared Rohit as the best captain in IPL.

“If Rohit Sharma doesn’t become India’s captain, it’s their loss, not Rohit’s,” Gambhir said. “Yes, a captain is only as good as his team and I completely agree with that, but what are the parameters to judge a captain on who is good and who isn’t? The parameters and benchmark should be the same. Rohit has led his team to five IPL titles

Rohit Sharma as India’s captain : Sehwag says he is the best captain in T20

Former India batsman Virender Sehwag also believes Rohit Sharma is the best T20 captain.

“Ab to aadat si hai sabko aise dhone ki. The best T20 franchise in the world and the best captain in the format. Deserving winners , Mumbai Indians, koi shak. Amazingly well organised tournament despite various challenges,” Sehwag tweeted.

This is the fifth IPL title win for the Rohit Sharma-led side. The franchise had earlier won the tournament in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019.

Rohit Sharma as India’s captain : Michael Vaughan joins the chorus

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has vouched for Rohit Sharma being made the Indian captain in the shortest format of the game. His remarks came as Mumbai Indians on Tuesday won their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.

Vaughan also said that by making Rohit the T20 skipper, Kohli’s burden can be eased off and he can continue leading the side in ODI and Test formats.

“Without question Rohit Sharma should be the Indian T20 captain, fantastic man-manager and leader and he knows exactly how to win T20 games, it would also give Virat chance to take a breather and just be the player, it’s works for all other teams around the world,” Vaughan tweeted.
