The Indian Premier League 2020 opening ceremony might take place at Cricket Club of India’s Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The grand gala to launch the IPL 2020 season may as well be a full-fledged entertainment show, which will mark a big shift in the stand the Committee of Administrators has taken last year.
The CoA though had initially organised opening ceremonies at all IPL centres, but last year decided not to do so and the money thus saved was earmarked for families of CRPF personnel killed in the Pulwama terror attack.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has approached Cricket Club of India (CCI) with an offer to host the IPL opening ceremony.
It is likely that the opening ceremony will not be held on the same day as the first match, national daily Indian Express has reported quoting sources.
The IPL 2019 ceremony was a token affair that had low-budget entertainer ahead of the season opener between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Mumbai.
