IPL 2020 : Title Sponsor for IPL 2020 to be finalized today, will BCCI cross 300Cr mark ?

This statement by the Board of Cricket Control of India’s (BCCI) official is clear indication that the Indian cricket board is extremely confident not only to have a title sponsor in place for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) by today evening, but they are also ready to surprise everyone with the commercials attached to the deal. 
 
“Entire industry knows that, IPL 2020 will be the most watched ever. We have got great response for the EOI. Wait and Watch we will surprise everyone with the results”, declared the BCCI official to InsideSport late Monday night. 
 
 

The BCCI is also confident of beating market estimates. According to some doomsayers, title sponsorship for IPL 2020 will not even fetch 150 Cr. But BCCI is ready to  spring a surprise today. The Board official InsideSport spoke to did not give any indication on the figure. But InsideSport has learnt from its sources that the Board officials are extremely confident to cross 300Cr threshold. 

The interested parties have to submit their financial bids between 11AM – 1PM today. Post that BCCI will evaluate the bids and declare the winner of the IPL 2020 Title Sponsor race 

IPL 2020 Title Sponsorship Race : Tata Sons clear favorites, Patanjali chickens out

 

As reported earlier, the Tata group, which has submitted its ‘expression of interest’, remains the favourite to win the IPL 2020 Title Sponsorship and all indications suggest that BCCI is also interested in the relationship. 

 

Ed-tech platforms Byju’s and Unacademy have outside chance if the offer by Tata Sons are on a very low side. 

Fantasy sports platform Dream 11 is another one in the fray but is unlikely to pose serious challenge. 

Reliance’s Jio Communications have submitted EOI but all indications suggest they are unlikely to bid. 

As reported on Monday, the loudest of the suitor Patanjali Ayurveda seems to have chickened out and is unlikely to bid for the IPL Title Sponsorships. 
 
After publicly declaring, that ‘they are actively considering the IPL 2020 sponsorship’, Yoga guru Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurveda has now made a complete U-Turn on pitching for the sponsorship tomorrow. 
 
Refuting the claim that Patanjali has made a bid for IPL title sponsorship at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar, Ramdev told HT “it is too early to talk about it as Patanjali will only come to the forefront (for IPL title sponsorship) if other Indian corporate houses don’t make any bid for the IPL title sponsorship”.
 
The homegrown FMCG brand Patanjali were the first brand in the country to openly declare that they will be bidding for the title sponsorship of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020)

“We are considering the IPL title sponsorship for this year, since we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform,” Patanjali spokesperson SK Tijarawala had told the media, adding Patanjali is considering making a proposal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

But according to Ramdev, no paper work or financial assessment has been done from Patanjali side regarding IPL title sponsorship“Patanjali will only make bid when no other Indian company comes out or is in the fray for IPL title sponsorship deal,”
