  • Chris Gayle is the second oldest player to score 50 or more runs in an IPL innings:

On October 15, Kings XI Punjab batsman Christopher Henry Gayle hit 53 off 45 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in an IPL 2020 match in Sharjah. The half-century by the Jamaican player made him the second-oldest player in IPL history to score 50 or more in an innings.

Overall, only three batsman – Adam Gilchrist, Rahul Dravid and Chris Gayle have managed to score 50 runs or more in an innings after the age of 40.

 

  • MS Dhoni is the first player to play 200 or more IPL matches in the history of the tournament:
Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni has played 171 matches for Chennai Super Kings and 30 matches for Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL.

  • Shikhar Dhawan has to wait for the longest to register his maiden IPL century:
Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan recently become the first player in IPL history to register consecutive centuries in the tournament. He smashed unbeaten 101 against CSK (his maiden IPL ton) on Oct 17 and then in his next match, Dhawan scored unbeaten 106 against Kings XI Punjab on Oct 20.
Interestingly, Dhawan took 4,564 days (12 years, five months and 28 days) to register his maiden IPL century – the longest by any batsman in terms of matches, innings and days, surpassing previous record-holders Virat Kohli and Mayank Agarwal.
