IPL 2020: Top 10 highest paid batsman in IPL 13- Total IPL Salary, IPL 2020 Salary & Salary Rank

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is around the corner and fans are eagerly waiting to see their favourite stars in action.

IPL is a fast-paced event and many people think that it’s about all about the swashbuckling batsman and destructive bowlers. With IPL seeing some of the biggest ever scores in the limited format, the importance of explosive and big-hitting batsman has been even more crucial.

It’s not a surprise that franchises have gone all out for the big-hitter in IPL auctions to provide the firepower in their respective batting lineups.

In this article, we take a look at top 10 highest-paid batsman in IPL 2020.

10.Glenn Maxwell

IPL 2020 Salary – 10.75 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
Total IPL salary-₹ 42,92,93,750
IPL Moneyball Rank-29

KXIP broke the bank in the IPL 2020 auction to sign star Australian batsman Glen Maxwell for Rs 10.75 crore. The 31-year-old is a complete package who is renowned for his attacking batting, clever bowling and sensational fielding

Interestingly, when the UAE hosted the first half of the IPL 2014, Maxwell, who was playing for KXIP then also, was the most successful batsman in that part as he scored 300 runs in just five matches (average 60.00), including three fifties.  He finished that IPL tournament as the third most run-scorer (552 runs) while his team finished as the runners-up, their best IPL results till the date. Maxwell won the Most Valuable Player award in that IPL edition. The Punjab based the franchise will be expecting the similar magic from Maxwell in the forthcoming IPL season.

9. Hardik Pandya

IPL 2020 Salary – 11 Crore
IPL 2020 Team-Mumbai Indians (MI)
Total IPL salary-₹ 333,000,000
IPL Moneyball Rank-44

Indian batting all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been one of the key figures for MI in almost every season. He is lethal with both bat and ball and the 26-year-old has played some match-defining innings for his team. In 2019, Hardik scored 402 runs in 16 games at a whopping strike rate of 191.42 for Mumbai. He also picked up 14 wickets in 16 matches.

8. Lokesh Rahul

IPL 2020 Salary – 11 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
Total IPL salary- ₹ 371,000,000
IPL Moneyball Rank-37

Rahul has been with the franchise for a couple of years now, and if his past record is anything to go by, he is likely to bring an aggressive flair to the Punjab-based franchise. KXIP managed to reach the finals of IPL just once (2014), and after that, the side has struggled to even make the playoffs of the cash-rich league. But with the current edition now being played in UAE, the side would hope to reclaim the magic of their 2014 season

8. Manish Pandey

IPL 2020 Salary – 11 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Total IPL salary- ₹ 407,000,000
IPL Moneyball Rank-32

An incredible batsman at the top of the order, Manish Pandey boasts of a rich repertoire of strokes up his sleeves and can destroy any bowling lineup with his deft strokeplay.

Pandey, before joining the SRH franchise climbed up the ladder in the KKR franchise alongside the likes of Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa and has learned his craft from the best.

7. Ab de Villiers

IPL 2020 Salary – 11 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Total IPL salary-₹ 915,165,000
IPL Moneyball Rank- 6

AB de Villiers has been ever-present for RCB over the years, and his recent good form in the 3TC Solidarity Cup points to him defying age once again in IPL 2020. The former South African captain, along with England all-rounder Moeen Ali, make up a top order that has world-class overseas professionals with experience and leadership.

5. Steve Smith

IPL 2020 Salary – 12.5 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Total IPL salary-₹ 456,296,700
IPL Moneyball Rank- 27

MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are often talked about as the best captains in the IPL but one name that often goes unnoticed is Steve Smith. The former Australia skipper hasn’t had the consistent spells as skipper that he deserves but his statistics speak for the leader that he is.

In 29 matches as skipper, Smith has won 65.5% of his matches in the IPL which is better than all other captains.

4. David Warner

IPL 2020 Salary – 12.5 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Total IPL salary-₹ 585,017,300
IPL Moneyball Rank- 16

Reinstated as captain this year, Warner isn’t anonymous to success in the league either. The hard-hitting Australian opener had tasted success with the Sunrisers in the IPL 2016 season. SRH have qualified for the playoffs every single season since then and as Warner returns as captain this term, nothing less than the same is expected.

In terms of statistics, Warner has led Hyderabad in 47 matches with a win percentage of 55.3.

3. Rohit Sharma

IPL 2020 Salary – 15 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Mumbai Indians (MI)
Total IPL salary- 1,316,000,000
IPL Moneyball Rank- 2

The ‘most successful IPL captain’, Rohit Sharma has 4 titles to his name as the franchise’s skipper and 5 overall. Rohit has won the IPL title every ‘odd season’ since becoming the MI captain. It would be interesting to see if he can replicate the feat in an ‘even year’ this time around.

His statistics as a captain also remain impressive. In 104 matches as Mumbai captain, Rohit has won 57.7% of his matches.

2. MS Dhoni

IPL 2020 Salary – 15 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Total IPL salary- 1,378,400,000
IPL Moneyball Rank-1

The name needs no introduction at all. One of the biggest servants of Indian cricket, Dhoni has won three IPL titles with his beloved CSK and would be eager to make that four as he steps onto the pitch as an ex-international this time around.

As far as his statistics go, Dhoni has played 174 matches for CSK as a captain and holds a win percentage of 59.8.

1. Virat Kohli – 17 Cr

IPL 2020 Salary – 17 Crore
IPL 2020 Team- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Total IPL salary-  1,262,000,000
IPL Moneyball Rank- 3

Another name that needs no introduction in Indian cricket. Kohli has an unprecedented record as the skipper of the Indian national team but is yet to emulate the same success in the IPL. RCB have criminally underperformed in the past few seasons but many experts are hoping the ‘UAE factor’ to work in their favour this term.

The statistics, understandably, are against Kohli. He has led RCB in 110 matches and won only 44.5% of times.
