So overwhelmed was Jaiswal seeing his idol that he just bowed down in respect.
India’s U-19 World Cup star Jaiswal, who was in superb form with the bat during the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy, was rewarded for his consistency and talent by the Royals with a place in the playing XI. He was listed as one of the two openers along with Smith.
Jaiswal showed phenomenal form and promised at the U19 World Cup in South Africa where India lost the final to Bangladesh. In the 6 World Cup innings, Jaiswal had 5 fifty-plus scores–including a hundred. The only time he didn’t get a half-century was against Japan when India were chasing only 42.
His run-scoring spree also helped him bag a hefty deal in the 2020 IPL Auction where the Rajastahn Royals bought him for Rs 2.4 crore for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League that starts from March 29.
