IPL 2020 : Good news for CSK, Deepak Chahar tests negative, chances to play first game brightens up

Chennai Super Kings team and their fans can breathe little easy. Team’s lead pace bowler Deepak Chahar has tested negative in the first mandatory Covid-19 test.

Chahar will now be shifting back to the team hotel from the quarantine facility.

The big question in front of CSK now is – will he be available for the first game now ?

– According to the CSK CEO K.S. Viswanathan the pacemen still has to undergo a cardiovascular test. The said test will be conducted by the BCCI.

– Other than Cardiovascular test, Chahar will also have to give one more Covid-19 test and if it comes negative, he will be allowed to join the team nets.

– The entire process will take another 3-4 days

– Post that he can bowl at the team nets and his fitness will be analyzed by the team management

– If Chahar can clean the fitness test of the team, CSK can draft him in the eleven for the first game against Mumbai Indians on 19th September.

CSK’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan told InsideSport“Deepak and Ruturaj are doing well. But to resume training they will have follow the BCCI protocol. They will be tested once more and tests come negative, they can join the squad”.

Along with Chahar, questions are also being raised on Josh Hazlewood and Sam Curran’s availability for the CSK’s opening game. It is unlikely that both the pace bowlers can make it on time for the first game of IPL 2020 for CSK

“We are mindful of it that Josh and Curran will not be available for first game. But Bravo and party should make it for the first game. We have enough firepower and should manage”, says Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of CSK

Fast Bowling Options for CSK for the first Match against Mumbai Indians

Shane Watson – Hardly bowl now a days
Deepak Chahar – Availability Depending on Cardiovascular & Covid19 test results

The pace bowling department surely looks little depleted for CSK but the team is still confident that they have enough resource at their disposal.
Only game against strong Mumbai Indians will tell if CSK’S depleted pace resources can stand the onslaught of Mumbai batsman.
