Kolkata Knight Rider’s all-rounder Sunil Narine has failed to perform to the best of his abilities. He was once the talisman of KKR as bagged crucial wickets and scored runs at a fast pace. But the Trinidadian is now a far cry from that once heady cricketer.
IPL 2020 has been nothing less than a nightmare for Narine so far as he has failed to contain runs or take wickets, while his batting has been the biggest letdown, scoring 27 runs from four matches at a dismal strike-rate of 87.09.
However, despite his poor form, Narine can prove to be a game-changer when his side takes on Chennai Super Kings in the match no.21 of Indian Premier League 2020 on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.
Best bowler against CSK
Interestingly, Sunil Narine is the leading wicket-taker for Kolkata against Chennai with 13 scalps to his name and his economy rate against CSK is 6.00 which is the best by any bowler who has bowled at least 250 balls against the three-time champions in IPL.
Also, the all-rounder enjoys bowling in Abu Dhabi. The best IPL bowling figures at the venue is Narine’s 4/20 against Mumbai Indians in 2014.
Narine vs MS Dhoni
Sunil has always had the upper hand against CSK skipper Dhoni, as the dynamic batsman has not been able to hit a single boundary in 8 years off the bowler. Notably, the wicketkeeper-batsman’s strike rate is less than 50 (49.15) against Narine.
Nightmare for CSK batsmen
Chennai’s batsmen have always struggled when up against Narine. He’s dismissed Shane Watson four times, Ambati Rayudu twice and both MS Dhoni and Faf du Plessis once. Of the four of them, only Watson has a strike rate of more than 100 (103.57) against the Windies player.
So, all eyes will be on Sunil Narine on Wednesday and KKR, who lost their previous game against Delhi Capitals, will be hoping that the 32-year-old do the trick for them.
