IPL 2020: Worries for RCB as Virat Kohli’s poor form in IPL 2020 continues

Royal Challenger’s Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli is the talk of the town again and the reason is his dismal performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2020.

Despite being IPL’s top scorer, Kohli has looked off-colour since the beginning of IPL 2020 as the batsman has scored just 18 runs in the three games he has played so far this season.

Virat’s latest failure came against Mumbai Indians on Monday when he walked back to the pavilion after scoring mere 3 runs off 11 balls.

In RCB’s opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kohli scored just 14 runs off 13 balls, while in the second game against Kings XI Punjab, the 31-year-old failed horribly as he was dismissed for just a run.

Currently, Kohli has an average of 6, while the strike rate of 62.06 in IPL 13. So far in this season, the 31-year-old has not even scored a single boundary.

Not only with the bat, but Kohli has been pathetic in the fielding department as well, as the Indian skipper dropped KXIP captain KL Rahul twice during RCB’s last game and the latter smashed 42 runs off 9 balls after that and also completed his century in the process.

After the match, Kohli had no qualms in taking the blame for dropping his India teammate, which contributed significantly to their 97-run defeat on Thursday.

Kohli felt had he not dropped Rahul, who remained unbeaten on 132, twice KXIP would not have been able to go past the 200-run mark.

“I have to stand in front and take the brunt of it, not the best day in the office, couple of important chances of KL when he was set and that cost us 35-40 runs at a later stage. Maybe if we restricted them to 180 we wouldn’t have been under pressure from ball one of the chase,” said Kohli at the post-match presentation.

Talking about MI vs RCB then, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Both the teams are coming into the match on the back of the contrasting results as the defending champions defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs in their last game, while on the other hand, Bangalore suffered a 97-runs defeat at the hands of Kings XI Punjab on Thursday.
