IPL 2021: 5 England players who shined in Ind vs Eng limited-overs series-The last bilateral series for India ahead of IPL 2021 ended on Sunday. The hosts emerged victorious in the nail-biter by 7 runs to clinch the ODI series 2-1. It was India’s third straight victory over England across all formats. They had previously defeated the visitors 2-1 and 3-1 in the T20 and Test series respectively. Today, we are going to discuss top England/ IPL players– Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Dawid Malan– who shined in the ODI and T20I series, check out.
Ahead of IPL 2021, the England opening batsman Jonny Bairstow slammed 219 runs in the ODI series at an average of 73. He plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He had struggled in the Test series so the England batsman roaring back to form is a good sign for the franchise. Bairstow had also scored 118 runs in the 5-match T20 series at an average of 39+.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) and England allrounder have been in tremendous form. He scored 135 runs against India in the ODI series and scalped 4 wickets. The 29-year-old had earlier contributed 84 runs and took 3 wickets in the T20 series. He is a crucial part of the RR and the team relies on him heavily for their success in IPL 2021.
Punjab Kings’ new recruit Dawid Malan continued from where he left off. He smashed 148 runs at an average of 37 in the T20 series. He was also the top run-scorer in the Big Bash League. In the ODI series, Malan added 66 runs.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and England all-rounder Sam Curran almost won the game for England in the last ODI. He scored a magnificent unbeaten 95 as the visitors fell 7 runs short of the target. He also picked a couple of wickets in the ODIs. In the T20 series, the 22-year-old failed to show his potential, something that needs to improve in the IPL.
Rajasthan Royal’s pace spearhead Jofra Archer shined with the ball in the T20 series—second-highest wicket-taker. He scalped 7 wickets in 5 matches. Unfortunately, the pacer was ruled out of the ODI and IPL 2021 as he needed to undergo surgery to manage his elbow injury, as per ECB.
