IPL 2021: 5 players who are in smashing form ahead of IPL 2021 Phase 2 ft. Livingstone, Russell

Liam Livingstone (Rajasthan Royals)

RR’s Liam Livingstone is in an exceptional form ahead of the IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE. He emerged as the highest run-scorer in the recently-concluded ‘The Hundred’. The right-handed batsman smashed 348 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of 178+. He slammed as many as 27 sixes, most in the tournament. He is expected to emulate his success in the IPL 2021. In absence of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, RR will be hopeful that he will contribute in the best way possible as the franchise look for a playoff spot.

Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders)

KKR’s Andre Russell has announced himself with a blistering knock in CPL 2021. He slammed a 14-ball fifty to send signals for what is expected to come in the IPL 2021. He slammed as many as 6 sixes and 3 boundaries in his innings to guide Jamica Tallawahs a big win against Saint Lucia Kings in their opening match. He had also performed for West Indies during their 4-1 win over Australia last month. The allrounder will look to turn around KKR’s fortune in the remaining fixtures of IPL 2021 Phase 2.

Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians)

Out of form Mumbai Indians allrounder, Kieron Pollard has returned to form with his scintillating fifty. He slammed unbeaten 58 runs off just 30 balls at a strike rate of 193+ that comprised 6 sixes and three fours. His innings helped Trinbago Knight Riders pull off six wickets victory against Barbados Royals in Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021). What comes as a big positive is the fact that the crucial inning comes after a string of poor innings. He had last scored a fifty against Australia in July.

Pollard had struggled against Australia and Pakistan during the recently concluded T20 series. His last few innings read: 58*, 2, 13, 22*, 11 and 2. The timely fifty will boost his morale in the ongoing packed T20 calendar.

Adil Rashid and Rashid Khan (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Punjab Kings’ new signing Adil Rashid, who replaced Jhye Richardson, emerged as the joint highest wicket-taker with SRH ace spinner Rashid Khan in The Hundred. The duo took 12 wickets each in the 100-ball tournament. While Adil Rashid took only 7 matches to reach the feat, Rashid Khan required 9 innings. The duo will look to exploit the UAE conditions and emulate their feat in IPL 2021 Phase 2. Rashid Khan had taken 10 wickets in first seven matches. He needs 15 wickets to complete 100 wickets in IPL. Notably, he is the most economical spinner in league history (minimum 50 matches).
