IPL 2021: Another blow for Rajasthan Royals, Liam Livingstone flies back home, citing “bubble fatigue” – Rajasthan Royals have been hit with yet another blow as England batsman Liam Livingstone has opted to fly back to the UK, citing bubble fatigue. RR, announcing Livingstone’s departure said in an announcement on Twitter. He is the second England player to leave the tournament mid-way after all-rounder Ben Stokes had to return early due to a suspected broken hand.

“Liam Livingstone has flown back home late last night, due to bubble fatigue accumulated over the past year. We understand and respect his decision, and will continue supporting him in any way we can,” Rajasthan Royals said in a Twitter post on Tuesday.

Liam Livingstone was picked up for the IPL 2021 auction for Rs 75 Lakh. However, he is yet to feature in any IPL matches for Rajasthan Royals this season with Jos Buttler getting the nod. With Ben Stokes’s departure, Liam Livingstone was expected to play a part in RR’s IPL 2021 campaign. But with South African David Miller in form, it was difficult for Liam to get match time.

Before Liam Livingstone, Ben Stokes was ruled out of the remainder of the IPL due to a finger injury. He has been sidelined for up to three months, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Friday. ECB also informed that a repeat X-ray and CT scan on April 15 revealed that Stokes has a fracture of his left index finger.

The England all-rounder had sustained the injury during the game against Punjab Kings on Monday. The incident occurred during the Punjab innings as Stokes went forward to complete the catch of Punjab batsman Chris Gayle. Stokes was visibly in pain even though he did come out to bat in the Rajasthan innings — a match which the Sanju Samson-led side lost by four runs.

Earlier, England bowler Jofra Archer was ruled out of IPL 2021 with an elbow injury. With Livingstone’s departure, Rajasthan Royals now have lost three England players in IPL 2021.
