IPL 2021 Auctions – Kings XI Punjab: With less than 24 hours left for the franchises to submit their final list of released and retained players list, Kings XI Punjab has made up it mind to release Karun Nair (Rs 5.6 crore) and Sheldon Cottrell (Rs 8.50 crore). InsideSport has learnt that KXIP had sent contracts to their players except for Nair and Cottrell. Interestingly, the Punjab-side has also not sent a contract renewal draft to Glenn Maxwell, who had a mediocre previous IPL season but had a splendid series against India.
KXIP finished 6th in the IPL 2020 and will go in IPL 2021 auction: The IPL Mini Auction will be an opportunity to strengthen their side to grab the elusive IPL trophy. KXIP for now has Rs 16.50 crore left in their purse and will have Rs 14.1 crore more after releasing Cottrell and Nair.
KXIP – Status of players on the firing line:
1) Karun Nair – Rs 5.6 cr – Likely to lose his contract
2) Sheldon Cottrell – Rs 8.5 cr – Unlikely KXIP will re-sign with West Indies pacer
KXIP to retain Mayank Agarwal for IPL 2021:
The Anil Kumble coached-side have decided to re-sign Mayank Agarwal. The 29-year-old was a big hit in last IPL but earns only Rs 1 crore for a year. KXIP have confirmed that they have no intention of released Agarwal.

The BCCI is yet to announce the date of the auction. It was tentatively scheduled for February 11 but the latest information is that it will be postponed by a few days. For the record, the salary cap for the auction remains unchanged at INR 85 crore.
